REMOVE THE NAV DISK!!! follow this helpful link http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=11322 to get the unit out. Note: these pics were taken mostly during re-assembly, these 13 steps follow my dis-assembly order. When re-assembling I found that the sequence was not exactly in the same order (1 panel side plate and the side heat sink get put back together sooner) the egg carton trick helped during this process Tools I used: small philips screw driver (magnetic helps) pliers only used remove 1 of the knobs thermal paste rubbing alcohol Q-tip difficulty: mild time frame: 2 hours or more (your mileage may vary) cleaning process: 2 wipes with Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol success rate: worked for me, no more nav disk error I found there were 13 different diasembly steps before I could clean the laser eye 1>>user interface facia removal 12 screws and 3 knobs 2>>Video screen removal 4 screws and 1 wire to unplug I had to wiggle to screen off using the radio knobs 3>>Metal face plate for screen 9 screws (holes are numbered) 4>>Side heat sink 8 screws 5>>Antenna connector (has 3 screws) only need to remove 1 screw sorry folks no photo 6>>Top plate 2 scr

I was pretty close to removing it and sending it to a place that claims that it's a common issue and they can fix it for a low, low price of just $275. I started searching online for fixes and couldn't find anything (months ago). I pulled the unit out before our family roadtrip from Chicago to Sarasota this summer and removed the OEM fan on the back because I didn't hear it running anymore and figured that coulda been the problem (overheating). I wired up a small fan from the local scientific supply house and it seemed to help out. The Error only came up every few days or so. Then just as we were entering Florida after a day-and-a-half of driving the Error came on and didn't go away. It's been busted for a couple months now and I've been dreading the fact that it's gonna be $275 for a fix. When I researched causes, the reasons for the error varied: overheating head units, bad copies of a nav disk, dirty disks or dirty lenses.
