Mine is currently doing this, http://www.jeeppatriot.com/forum/17-electrical-audio/27255-rec-disc-error.html however it doesn't have a Nav CD in so I thought that may be it. If you have a REC could someone remove their nav disc and then attempt to use their CD player. Does it work? If it does, anyone know how to reseat the disc cartridge for the 6CD changer? I thought to try using a can of compressed air, like Dust Off, to clean it inside. I used the little straw to direct it in there, and just sprayed rec navigation bursts all around, but being careful not to poke too deep in there. Also, I sprayed it with the drive trying to read the disc, so the laser is better exposed. You have to spray a lot depending on how bad your laser is, and cycle your system here and there, but it might work for u like it did me. If it works, but then reads rec navigation radio error when looking up street names, spray some more; most likely the laser is still dirty. My only prob now is that the little joystick isnt working, but I can use my steering wheel controls. but I do wanna fix that joystick. Hope this helps a few out there. But if you want there are things that can be done. a replacement joystick can be bought on ebay as yours is probably an early one that is known to have joystick problems. The cost is about $50 for the joystick it used to be cheaper but the company discontinued the joysticks. The tricky thing is to find someone to soder the new one in place properly. It requires opening the unit up and sodering on on the board after de sodering the original. As goes for disc read error its kinda common. It could be as simple
