All my installs end quickly after the AppSearch action with the error: Internal Error 2715. F6097_xxxx.dll F6097_xxxx.dll is of course the Key name of one of my files. I have looked at both the files table in the Direct Editor and opened the CAB file in WinZip - Both have the file F6097_xxxx.dll. References to this error in the knowledgebase talk about custom actions referencing this file. I don't beleive I have any

What type of installshield wizard? I'd recommend using the Orca tool to examine the MSI file you are using, there are a lot of tutorials online. support.microsoft.com/kb/255905 –NGaida Aug 27 '13 at 15:54 Thanks, will check it out. I'm using VS2012 and the default built-in Installshield option for winforms. –Cameron Castillo Aug 28 '13 at 6:08 There isn't any default installshield option for winforms in VS2012. –NGaida Aug 28 '13 at 21:49 Well, I added a new project in VS2012, chose Other Projects, and selected 'Setup and Deployment'. Then I selected the only available option of Installshield, and went through the wizard step-by-step. –Cameron Castillo Aug

Internal Error 2715 while calling function from a DLL NewsArchive11-15-1999, 01:00 AMHi, I am trying to call a function from a DLL. Its a very simple function, infact it does nothing but just returns 0. The http://community.installshield.com/archive/index.php?t-88537.html custom action is as follows - Call a function from a DLL. Installed with the Product. Execute Immediately. Always Execute. When I run the setup I get an "Internal Error 2715 F120_IsUser.dll" . My http://forum.installsite.net/index.php?showtopic=4233 function is declared using dllexport UINT __stddecl . and the name of my DLL is _IsUser. I looked up the error codes and 2715 is - The specified File key ('[2]') not found in recording mode the File Table. Any idea what this means ? I have a component for the DLL file that is associated with a feature. So I'm sure that my DLL is being installed. but its not being called !! I would really, really appreciate any help that you can give me !! Thanks & Regards, Mohan NewsArchive11-15-1999, 01:00 AMWhere are you calling this Custom Action? If you are calling a function not found in in a DLL and the DLL is installed with the product, then you need to sequence the CA after InstallFiles action in the InstallExecuteSequence. Anyone knows what this is? Back to top #2 ianmw7 ianmw7 Members 55 posts Posted 20 November 2001 - 12:40 Don't know if it's the same thing, but I have had numerous errors due to components that were "in the project" (listed in components) but not used (not in set up design). This includes missing file keys, files not found, complete duplicate registry and shortcuts - all those things that make ISWI such a delight to use. And don't forget that ISWI will sometimes add complete dummy components if you use the component wizard and include subdirectories in your files. Back to top #3 houdeveloper18 houdeveloper18 Members 13 posts Posted 21 November 2001 - 00:54 Thanks a lot for your reply, ianmw7. The IDE works fine in earlier ISWI, last week, I figured out somehow after converted, one of those files seems to have the file key/path key included. Clear this up solved the problem. Your diagnostic would be applicable to this case too. If I had your email earlier, would save time to dig in.
