My computer is Win7, the targets are WinXP or Server 2003. Perhaps I am specifying the SERVER name incorrectly: qwinsta /SERVER:XXYYZZ02 I have tried qwinsta /SERVER:\\XXYYZZ02 qwinsta /SERVER:domain\XXYYZZ02 qwinsta /SERVER:domain/XXYYZZ02 qwinsta /SERVER:1.2.3.4 Am I doing something wrong? TIA... (The apple remote desktop access denied problem I'm trying to solve is several support personnel needing to connect to the same servers and disconnecting each other mid-session.) remote-access remote-desktop share|improve this question edited Jan 6 '15 at 11:16 Chris J 18.3k43776 asked Mar 3 '14 at 19:48 Number8 3,46662753 1 Did you get this working because even I am struggling with the same thing? –dilip Aug 15 '14 at 20:00 1 @dilip The OP at this SuperUser link commented that he got past it using PsExec (if that works for you, please comment back): superuser.com/questions/650816/… –Doug_Ivison Aug 27 '14 at 15:43 psexec \\remotepc cmd followed by qwinsta worked for me. "This means the remote RPC component failed to execute the requested operation. It is because it is not allowed to operate on terminal service (Remote Desktop) through RPC by default. To modify this setting to enable Remote Desktop API through RPC, you need to find the following registry key: HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server Then add a DWORD value named “AllowRemoteRPC”

If I log on as local administrator on the server with RDP and shadow the session of a domain user that works. However, if I log on with a domain user that is in the local administrators group and try to shadow http://serverfault.com/questions/340524/remote-desktop-session-remote-control-always-returns-error-5-access-denied the session of the same user as I tried before, I get an error: > shadow ... Remote Control failed. error Code 5 Error [5]:Access is denied. I explicitly enabled all permissions for the domain user which cannot shadow a session under: Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration -> Rdp-Tcp connection -> Security -> checked Full Control I even restarted the server after these modifications without success. I have exactly the same settings enabled on a different server and there a domain user, also being in the local administrators group can shadow sessions of other domain users. So, are there any other settings I must enable to allow screensharing? Or do I do something wrong? Is there a way to determine which permissions an existing user actually has? windows-server-2008-r2 rdp windows-terminal-services remote-desktop-services share|improve this question asked Dec 13 '11 at 16:04 Heinrich 41031129 Does the user have a multi-display session?
