NEVER use a refurbished color cartridge. Since your OLD color cartridge is also now giving you the "remove and check color cartridge" error, then the remove and check cartridge on right hp 2575 cartridge itself can't be the entire problem. Here is what I suggest:1. Get rubbing alcohol on a Q tip cotton swab and rub it gently on ends of the gold contacts in the carriage. There will probably be significant amount of ink http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00249477 overspray. While you are at it, you might want to do the black side, too. Keep going with additional swabs until the swab is clean after wiping is done.2. Wipe the contact copper area on the back of each cartridge with rubbing alcohol on a swab or facial tissue.3. Reinsert cartridge. If you still get a "remove and check color cartridge" error, then wiggle the cartridge in and out a couple of times and insert a bit firmly, then put the top down http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/58342 onto it. 4. If all of the above fails, replace the carriage itself or (more easily) the entire carriage assembly.Doctuh by unknown on Oct 12, 2008 at 12:24pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 HP G85 .Is there anyway to make it print only in black.Everytime I install new color cartridge ,after a while it gets dried up by lack of use.The error message says check color cartridge. Please do you know how to reset the printer to facory settings and start over, remove all error messagesMy second G85 printer it says check black cartridge all the time ,but the printer works but fax doesnt. by unknown on Dec 24, 2008 at 8:52am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I don't know of any way to make the printer ignore the color cartridge. On the other printer clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and carriage with a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails to clear the error one of the cartridges may be defective with the black being the primary suspect. by Bert on Dec 24, 2008 at 8:08pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have a used G85 and have never had to replace ink cartidge. scanner glass to my G85. I don't want to lug the thing in to a repair man just to do this. How do you get to this underside? Rachel T. by Rachel T on Mar 21, 2004 at 2:41am Add comment http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/16440 Please sign in to comment Hi try this website page, http://h10025.www1.hp.com - Anonymous 3 I am http://www.fixya.com/support/t429019-hp_g85_all_says_remove_check_color also looking for a service manual for a OfficeJet G85. I am getting an error message saying to clear carriage jam. I cannot find anything that is jamming the carriage. Stephen can you give me any ideas what could be the problem? by Ruth on Feb 12, 2004 at 4:14pm Add comment Please sign in to comment Ruth,My printer is ssaying "clear carriage jam" as yours previously did. remove and Can you tell me did you get it resolved & if so how? Thanks - Anonymous 3 I recently bought a new computer using XP and I then installed my hp g85, which had previously worked OK on my old computer using Windows 98. At first, it printed and faxed all right (a month or so), but when I tried using the scanner, things started to go wrong. I kept being told to switch off and on. Eventually, it seemed that I could only do one remove and check print job and then I'd have to close down and restart. Then, it refused to do anything at all. After reading your advice on this site, I downloaded the driver from h10025.www1.hp.com and tried to install the new driver. Half-way through installation, I got the message "Install detected that the system has already successfully completed the installation of this software". The first time this happened, the installation closed down. After uninstalling the previous installation, I tried the above procedure again and this time, during uninstall, the message "Internal Error 2753 hpoavn07_exe_Bin_all_all_25" appeared, after a while followed by the message "Fatal error during installation" and the installation closed down. I tried this several times, every time with the same result. What can I do? I have cleaned everything inside of my printer with cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol. My cartriges are fairly new and have plenty of ink. I have cleaned all contacts, the slider bar, the projection strip, and whatever else

Trouble is that removing, cleaning and replacing the cartridge just brings up the same message, and the machine stalls there and will not function to print anything - even a test sheet. Maddening! It would be nice if the machine allowed you to say "OK" and print regardless - even in black. Is there a way to carry on, using just the black cartridge - because that's the one I usually use? I hardly use the color cartridge, and would not expect it to be out of ink yet, since it was replaced relatively recently. It is more likely that the black is low or empty - but I cannot tell!
