Push Failed Failed With Error Fatal Repository Not Found
No one assigned 10 participants luxerama commented Jul 11, 2012 Hi, Should I be able to clone private repositories with: git clone orgname/reponame github does not provide shell access Because when I try that atm I am getting the following error: Cloning into 'reponame'... fatal: remote error: Repository not found. I can successfully use features like git pull-request These are the versions I use (hub is installed https://help.github.com/enterprise/11.10.340/user/articles/error-repository-not-found/ via brew): $ git version [ruby-1.9.3-p194] > git version 1.7.9 > hub version 1.10.1 GitHub member mislav commented Jul 12, 2012 Try running git --noop clone orgname/reponame This will output the command that it would normally run. If you run the command in the output, and it still doesn't work, then your problem is probably not in hub, but elsewhere. luxerama commented Jul 12, 2012 Yeah so the issue seems to be when using SSH. If I https://github.com/github/hub/issues/212 use HTTPS it works just fine. Noop with SSH: $ git --noop clone orgname/reponame > git clone git://github.com/orgname/reponame.git Noop with HTTPS: $ git --noop clone orgname/reponame > git clone https://github.com/orgname/reponame.git GitHub member mislav commented Jul 12, 2012 Doh, I should have known — private repos can't be cloned over git: protocol. You need to use git clone -p orgname/reponame Please refer to git help hub for the list of such possible flags. mislav closed this Jul 12, 2012 luxerama commented Jul 12, 2012 Thanks man, your help is v. much appreciated. rmsy commented Sep 22, 2013 Is there any way to somehow configure Hub to do this automatically, so I don't need to think about whether or not a repository is private, and add that flag? Obviously not a huge deal, but would be helpful if that's somehow possible. GitHub member mislav commented Sep 22, 2013 @rmsy You're right. Reopened the issue. I guess we could hit the API before clone to see whether the repo exists. It would add a small overhead to each clone but I think the convenience is worth it. Thoughts? Wanna take a stab at the implementation? aisensiy commented Sep 23, 2013 git clone -p orgname/reponame This works. Thanks. 👍 1 fuadsaud commented Sep 23, 2013 Isn't easier to default cloning to use HTTPS? GitHub member mislav commented Sep 23, 2013 Isn
