Go into Device Manager like I suggested after booting windows and go through it as described in this article. Keep me posted if you can determine the conflict area in question, it may be a sound or video card that's causing the problem. GF Global Force, Dec 16, 2005 #7 hai Guest the modem has a problem. when I looked at the resource tab of the modem, it says "This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem." when I install the driver for it, it seems to pick up this driver "HP Pavilion Win2K Smart Lucent V.90 Win Modem Drivers ", but it has an error "this device cannot start (code 10) and the location is PCI slot 1 (PCI bus 1, device 8, function 0) in the general tab which is exact error that i have when this pc starts up.
