Error Message EXIT STATUS 5: the restore failed to recover the requested files. Solution Overview:If NetBackup 6.0 Simplified Chinese Language Pack or Japanese Language Pack is installed to the NetBackup 6.0 server, NDMP restore jobs will fail with Status 5 "the restore failed to recover the requested files".NetBackup 6.0 uses VxUL (Veritas Unified Logging) for logging. VxUL version 1.2.12 is bundled to NBU 6.0GA and MP1. VxUL version 1.2.13 is bundled to NetBackup 6.0 MP2 and later. These two versions of VxUL cause a problem to load translated NDMP Agent messages from the localized message resource file during NDMP restores.You can determine the version of VxUL currently installed in your system from the file property of NetBackup\bin\vxul.dll.Workaround:Please rename the following files to disable localized messages regarding NetBackup for NDMP:1. Solution Netapp provided workaround to backup and restore using the native "dump" method instead of using the snap mirror to tape (smtape) type / method. Restore of backup done using the "dump" method was successful.Applies To- Netbackup master/media server running 7.1.x.x- Original Netapp client - SOURCEFILER. I restore small folders with just a few files in it but if you restore a folder that has a lot of different subdirectories & files I keep getting a failed & files are restored with 0kb. Keep getting something like this. Keeps saying something about buffers. sometimes 2 sometimes 8 "leftover full buffers".
