Most copies will usually copy around 75% of the data, but there is always a group of data that will not move. It seems as though it is data with NTFS permission oddities, but even after correcting them, I often still cannot copy the data. Here is a sample entry that is created from Robocopy:2007/02/26 16:20:23 ERROR 1307 (0x0000051B) Copying NTFS Security to Destination Directory d:\departments\administration\Allen\This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object.2007/02/27 15:10:09 ERROR 1308 (0x0000051C) Copying NTFS Security to Destination Directory d:\departments\administration\year end\2001\This security ID may not be assigned as the primary group of an object. Here is a s

Server General Forum Question 1 Sign in to vote I'm trying to copy files between servers in robocopy error 5 different domains, while retaining ntfs permissions. The souce and destination are in different domains, but there is a trust in place. Source is WinXP based NAS device. Destination https://community.emc.com/thread/85279?start=0&tstart=0 is windows 2008 server. I'm executing the command on the win2k8 box. I'm an domain admin on both machines. I keep getting this error: ERROR : You do not have the Manage Auditing user right. How do I give myself this "Manage Auditing" user right? Simple Usage :: ROBOCOPY source destination /MIR source :: Source Directory (drive:\path or \\server\share\path). destination :: Destination Dir (drive:\path or \\server\share\path). /MIR :: Mirror a complete directory tree. For more usage information run ROBOCOPY /? **** /MIR can DELETE files as well as copy them ! If I exclude the auditing I get this error: 2009/01/29 11:33:05 ERROR 1307 (0x0000051B) Copying NTFS Security to Destination File \\dellnas1\users\fumstead\WINDOWS\Msflxgrd.ocxThis security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object. Got this error today using ROBOCOPY to copy files to a SAMBA share. ERROR 5 http://www.devotedit.com/2009/10/14/error-5-0x00000005-copying-ntfs-security-to-destination-directory/ (0x00000005) Copying NTFS Security to Destination Directory e:\xxxx\ Access is denied. I figured out a workaround… Backup mode cannot circumvent explicit NTFS deny ACL's if the copier isn't the objects' owner. (Error message: ERROR 5 (0x00000005) Copying NTFS Security to Destination Directory. Access denied.) You can overcome this robocopy error error by just copying the data in the files with these Options setting: /COPY:DT instead of the /COPYALL option. Why this works… /COPYALL is equivalent to /COPY:DATSOU, D=Data, A=Attributes, T=Timestamps, S=Security=NTFS ACLs, O=Owner info, U=aUditing info We only need Data and Timestamps.
