Scheduled Task Result 0xe0434f4d
it only takes a minute: Sign up Scheduled Task will not run returns e0434f4d as last result up vote 5 down vote favorite 1 I have a simple vb.net application. When I go to bin\debug\program.exe and double click the 0xe0434f4d error code program runs perfect. The same program will not execute using task scheduler. When I create a scheduled task and click 'run' it just pops up a console window for a second, closes. Additionally, this same program used to run with task scheduler. One day, it just stopped working. ps: I have this program code managed in svn so I can safely say that the code has not changed. vb.net scheduled-tasks share|improve this question asked Jan 10 '11 at 15:29 Mr. 0xe0434f4d exception Manager 4,56253367 If possible have you tried running the same application on a different machine? Does your program needs admin rights? What does the program do? What is your OS (Vista, Win 7) ? Can you provide us with more details. –Searock Jan 10 '11 at 15:46 repasting the location into the run textbox fixed the issue. I tested this and if you create a task that points to a file exe that does not exist you get a 'could not start message'. So I don't know how I was getting the error code I was getting. –Mr. Manager Jan 10 '11 at 19:33 add a comment| 5 Answers 5 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted Personally I don't believe in magic :-) Double-check that the source code is not modified comparing to the working version. Are you sure that the program is executed at all? Might be some permissions-related issues (from which user does the program execute and so on). (if #2 passes) Try debugging it to see what causes the problem. share|improve this answer answered Jan 10 '11 at 15:35 volpav 4,5751123 1. I did double check. Always a good idea.
2. Ran the program using f5 debug, ran fine
3. Ran the version from the bin\debug folder that ran fine.
4. re-re-re copied and pasted the run command from windows explorer into the task run prop

application that relies on the execution of nine .exe files by Task Scheduler. At this time five of those nine executables are exhibiting the following symptoms, the others http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4648381/scheduled-task-will-not-run-returns-e0434f4d-as-last-result are running as intended. All the executables run without issue when executed manually, it is only through Task Scheduler that I run into issues. If left to run on a schedule (every hour) with "Run whether user is logged on or not" selected, the Last Run Result comes up as (0xE0434F4D). I see no errors in the https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/776d6be1-8d2b-44d1-be22-9927c904200a/server-2008-task-scheduler-last-run-result-0xe0434f4d?forum=winserverManagement Event or Task Scheduler logs, and nothing jumped out at me on a couple occasions when I used Procmon64 to try to see what was going on. I have tested running the executables in two ways with differing results. When I run the task with "Run whether user is logged on or not" selected I get the error mentioned above. When I change that radio button to "Run only when user is logged on" and run the task, I get an error window almost immediately. This website summarizes exactly what our symptoms are - we are able to manually run the scheduled task but when 0xe0434f4d scheduled task we leave it scheduled it fails to run. Any ideas or work-arounds to make this application run via scheduled tasks that doesn't involve the company that programmed the proprietary software to re-code things? Both the EXE & the Batch file run fantastically well when a user (any user) is logged in. If, however I log out and set the task to run, OR run the task through my Task Scheduler MMC to that particular server it still will never run. Not once have I ever got it to run successfully.Things I have Tried so far:-Service Account is local admin. (tried giving this account domain users as well with no luck)-Service Account has full control on .BAT, .EXE, and all directories involved.-Tried running scheduled task with the 'Run with highest privileges' on and off.-Tried setting 'Configure for: Windows Server 2008 & 2008 R2.-Tried configuring the 'Start In (Optional)' field under 'Actions'.-I've also made sure that the service account I'm using to run the Tasks is added under the 'Logon as a Batch Job' section under GPO.I am officially running out of ideas. I can't give this account anymore access, and when I run the Batch file or Executable with any users logged in everything is great, soon as I log out however absolutely nothing runs.Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.EDIT: Below is the line in question I'm trying to run:D:\Inetpub\EXEFiles\AutoPDF\Html-to-PDF.exe /u "http://x.x.x.x/websitestuff.aspx" /output "D:\Inetpub\EXEFiles\report.pdf"Its going to a local website and creating a PDF from it. The website is on this same server so it won't need to go outside to access the website. If I run this from the command line its fine, if I run it while any user is logged on its also fine, if I log out however it fails. finni Ars Praefectus Tribus: Boston, MA Registered: Dec 22, 1999Posts: 4124 Posted: Mon Jun 13, 2011 8:30 am Does the *task itself* actually not r
