navigation ← Previous Next → A fix for ‘script errors' when running tools in ArcToolbox Posted on January 5, 2012 by mdhyslop_gis I recently was made aware http://support.esri.com/technical-article/000011008 of a fix for the long-present problem with ArcGIS on domain machines (i.e., users log in to lab or office machines using their ISO password) where a script error http://gis.mtu.edu/?p=427 is generated every time a tool in ArcToolbox is opened. After dismissing three error dialog boxes, the tool will run ‘normally'. Not a fatal error, but annoying. The problem stems from Internet Explorer, and can be fixed by replacing two files in \program files(X86)\ArcGIS10.0\ArcToolbox\Stylesheets A description of the fix and the replacement files are available from http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/38099 Administrator privileges are needed to implement the fix. Since then, it seems I now get the same Script Error for import/export functions. However, I just tried to export to Geodatabase (multiple) and error did not pop up. I spoke with tech support and they could not help me so far. I really do not know much about GIS so it is hard for me to fix this problem and cannot proceed with some things. arcgis-desktop arcgis-10.2 geoprocessing esri-geodatabase share|improve this question edited May 1 at 3:02 PolyGeo♦ 38.8k1357141 asked Jun 18 '15 at 16:23 LynnR 63 Are you doing this through the GUI or by script. Is the exact script error "script error invalid pointer"? –artwork21 Jun 18 '15 at 19:35 1 There should be more to it than that... are you using 64bit background processing? That can give funny errors like this, perhaps turn it off (more about it here resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/…). It is also possible that the error is 'in the past' so consider clearing you
