Windows Error #5 - Access is denied" or simular. I carefully checked that no other application is using this COM port. I also noticed the error only appears sometimes, or using a certain Docklight version. The Windows Hyperterminal software seems to be fine, for example. My script using DL.ConvertSequenceData for float http://docklight.de/dl_prb028/ conversion, as available in Docklight Scripting V1.9.10x, does not work any more. Posted in Support, Troubleshooting Applies to: Docklight / Docklight Scripting (all versions), Article ID: dl_prb028 If Docklight returns an "Access is denied" error for no obvious reason, there is most likely another application installed and working in the background, which opens or otherwise accesses this COM port. PDA sync tools like Microsoft ActiveSync are examples for such software. To resolve the problem, check carefully, if there is a software on your PC which is started automatically and communicates to PDAs, mobile phones or other communication accessories. Sometimes there is no other solution than to deactivate the sync tool, or run Docklight on a different computer. Sometimes the problem is specific to a certain serial driver, e.g. for FTDI-based USB/Serial equipment, and using another COM port on this PC, or a different brand of USB/Serial converter, can resolve the problem. Another reason might be a USB / virtual device driver that simply does not allow to set the classic serial communication parameters (baud rate, ..) when opening the COM po

I'm a first time builder of a prusa http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?156,113998,171780 mendel. The mechanical build went without a hitch. I have a sanguinololu 3D-printer driver http://forum.sysinternals.com/discovering-what-is-using-com1_topic30830.html that was pre-built including firmware. The sanuigololu has12V and is connected to the computer via an USP port. I first downloaded the Python software and then the Ponterface and Sfact software from Githb all into one directory. I've included a screen shot of the printer interface and a photo of the sanguinololu as attachments. I know serial port I'm doing something wrong because the print ikon is not active. I down loaded a .stl file and slicing seems to have worked OK All I really want to do at this moment is to get the X-axis to do somthing My questions are: 1. Have I down loaded the correct software or am I missing something? 2. Do I need to change the Com1 port. If so, How and to error opening serial what? 3. Or have I wrongly connected the sauguinololu? As you can see, I'm not an expert and need a kick start to proceed to the next fase. Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 01/15/2012 08:19AM by Dobert. If it doesn't connect then you may indeed have the wrong COM port. Look in your devices at COM & LPT ports and you should see an FTDI virtual COM port. It is usually COM3 or COM2 but can also be COM1, COM4, COM5 and etcetera. Change the COM port to the one where the FTDI is connected and press the connect button. If it still doesn't connect then the baudrate may be wrong. This must be what is set in the firmware. Bob Morrison Wörth am Rhein, Germany "Luke, use the source!" It is our shipping computer. Dynamics NAV 2013 (for some reason) - or Lanham EShip requires a COM port and not a USB port to read the scale.Whenever I attempt to read the scale NAV throws and Access Denied message. The scale company has a diagnostic path using Hyperterminal. It too, never communicates with scale. Both the FedEx and DHL apps can use COM1 but I have made sure they are using USB. Process Monitor: My first discovery with this showed Lync 2013 as using it. I called MS. They said it does not. I have poured over multiple captures of Process Monitor. What is odd is there is no "Access Denied" in any of the results! I would expect that. I have carefully looked at just NAV's capture (and others) but nothing stands out to me.Of course I tried PortMon. Error 2. Working with the Port itself in the Device Manager: at one time it told us is was in use. But not any more. I've rebooted it several time, even checking to see if the BIOS is correct.I have had another tech from a company that specializes in COM/Serial communications - their devices works with a large number of Windows serial ports attached to specialized Milling machines. He couldn't figure it out, only to say some process is holding the Port open. The COM settings I have checked more time than I can remember and even set the scale to match. And tried different settings. So, how can I discover what is holding the Port Open? pinscomputer Members Profile Send Private Message Find Members Posts Add to Buddy List Senior Member Joined: 14 March 2014 Status: Offline Points: 59
