the cloud. The default setting on IIS for detailed errors is to only display for local addresses. (See http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/267/how-to-use-http-detailed-errors-in-iis/ ). To get a robust error message you need to use a local address. You can get a local address by changing the site binding with IIS Manager. In iis 500 internal server error details the Edit Site Bindings dialog, select the binding (the line in blue highlighting below), then select Edit. Change the IP address from All Unassigned to *. OK, then Close. In IIS Manager, in the Actions pane, select Browse *.8x(http) . Now when you run the Azure application, you’re rewarded with rich error information. In my case, the root Web.config of the application had a duplicate section in the the configSections element. The configSections is used for registering all IIS and Windows Activation System (WAS) sections. Alternate approach – Editing ApplicationHost.config I was doing lots of labs, and each Azure application creates a dedicated web site and application pool (as mentioned previously, to more closely mimic Azure cloud deployment.) I have been using VS 2010 for developing application pages for SP 2010. I make use server error of wsp builder to package all my dlls, pages, scripts and images into a solution package and deploy it in the web applications. Everything was working like a charm. I started enduring a torrid time when all of a sudden my web applications started popping up with 'HTTP 500 Internal Server Error'. This started happening after I made some drastic changes in my application pages and deployed it. I tried creating new web applications but its not doing me any good. Any insights on what internal server error could be the source of this issue? I have installed Visual Studio 2015 Community, and I have successfully compiled and built both the website and its component DLL. When I try to use IIS Express to debug with F5, I get a 500 error... HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error Tracing area "Authentication,Security,Filter,StaticFile,CGI,Compression,Cache,RequestNotifications,Module,FastCGI,Rewrite,RequestRouting" is not recognized That says to me that IIS Express does not have a module installed that I need. I thought it might be that ARR and URL Rewrite were not installed, so I installed these, no change. My ApplicationPool in production uses PreWarmCache technology to start up and avoid 'first hit' delays, and do other one-time startup work. Help with getting IIS Express to run the site would be very useful. asp.net iis visual-studio-2015-comm share|improve this question edited Dec 17 '15 at 4:05 Leopard 8,4931825 asked Dec 11 '15 at 17:13 Steve Hibbert 607831 Are you running the ASP.NET code as a site or an application (within the site)? Can you also implement the "Application_Error" method (in Global) in your ASP.NET application and post the exception you're getting? –MacGyver Dec 15 '15 at 19:37 Good suggestion, but I have implemented Application_Error in Global.ASAX, and this is not getting called. I have put a breakpoint in the function and a log line for the exception held in Server.GetLastError(), and I get nothing. The 500 notification has additional diags, I will post up and google some more. Thx. &nd
