In addition to 500 internal server error iis the 500 error notified back to the client, the Web server should generate some kind of internal error log which http 500 error code gives more details of what went wrong. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse these logs. It is not a client-side problem. It is up to the operators of the Web server site to locate and analyse the logs which should give further information about the error. Fixing 500 errors - CheckUpDown Our service monitors your site for HTTP errors like 500. Please contact us (email preferred) whenever you http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E500.html encounter 500 errors on your CheckUpDown account. We then have to liaise with your ISP and the vendor of the Web server software so they can trace the exact reason for the error. Correcting the error may require recoding program logic for the Web server software, which could take some time. 500 errors in the HTTP cycle Any client (e.g. your Web browser or our CheckUpDown robot) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with the Web server: Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs). Open an IP socket connection to that IP address. Write an HTTP data stream through that socket. Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information. This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '500'. The WSDL for the proxy defines a single one-way operation (i.e. no response message is defined), making it an asynchronous operation. The proxy routes the request through a couple business services and then routes the response to a URL specified in the request (in the ReplyTo element of a WS-Addressing header). Essentially it's an asynchronous request-response pattern that accepts requests from a web service and calls back to that internal server error web service with the response. This proxy service works perfectly when run from the test page in the ALSB console. However, when calling the proxy from the real client web service, AquaLogic returns a "500" response from the HTTP POST. The WSDL and everything look correct, and we can use the proxy's URL to download the WSDL with no problem. Is this a known problem? Thanks! -Eric I have the same question Show 0 Likes(0) 11685Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Show 17 replies 1. Re: "500 Internal Server Error" response from asynchronous AquaLogic proxy James Taylor-Oracle Feb 4, 2009 7:00 AM (in response to 650837) First question is have you published the proxy service? I have seen something similar, but can't remember if it was a HTTP 500 error. But If I specified the URL to be localhost instead of file name then it worked. Have you tried that? cheers James Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 2. We can call the proxy from the web-based test client in the AquaLogic console, and no errors
Navigator' or 'IBM Web Administration for i5/OS' in HTTP ADMIN ADMIN; HTTPSVR Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) When accessing the 'IBM Systems Director Navigator' (https://systemname:2005/ibm/console) or 'IBM Web Administration for i5/OS' link in the HTTP ADMIN GUI (http://systemname:2001/HTTPAdmin), an 'Internal Server Error' or ERROR 500 message appears in the browser. This usually occurs due to one of the necessary ADMIN jobs in the QHTTPSVR subsystem failing to start properly. Resolving the problem The ADMIN IBM powered by Apache HTTP server utilizes the Integrated Application Server (IAS), which is responsible for serving the content of the IBM Web Administration for i5/OS link. When an ERROR 500 - Internal Server message is received when accessing the site, it is typically caused by one of these IAS server jobs not starting properly. Below are some typical causes of the problem and their solution: V5R4 Here is an example of how the HTTP ADMIN jobs should look in the QHTTPSVR subsystem: When the ADMIN2 job is failing to start, it causes the ERROR 500 - Internal Server Error. Typical Problems/Solutions to the Problem The HTTP group PTF (SF99114) and/or the Java group PTF (SF99291) is backleveled. a. On the WRKPTFGRP screen, check the level of the HTTP group PTF (SF99114) as well as the Java group PTF (SF99291), and check if the status is 'Installed'. If it is in a 'Not Installed' status, an IPL may be required to apply all of the PTFs in the group. b. Check our Preventative Service Planning Web site to make sure the HTTP and Java group PTF levels are at the latest level:http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.nsf/GroupPTFs?OpenView&Start=1&Count=30&Collapse=1#1 c. If either the HTTP or Java group PTF level is not at the current level, it is recommended that these be installed. Note: The HTTP group (SF99114) will automatically order the Java group PTF (SF99291) when it is ordered. This was done in order to always keep both at the most current level. One
