If too many connections are attempted and time out, this will cause a "500 Internal Server Error." To prevent these time outs and errors, you'll want to make sure that PHP scripts be coded with some timeout rules. Typically, however, catching a timeout error when connecting to a database or externally to remote resources (example: RSS feeds) are difficult. They, in effect, freeze the script from continuing to run. Removing any external connections can increase both the performance of your website and decrease the chances of you receiving a "500 Internal Server Error." Syntax or coding

I have a 48Megabyte .csv file I am trying to upload and run so the clients can do a massive product update/insert. We can occasionally get the upload to work, but right now I'm getting a 500 Error returned on my Ajax request. Here are some of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11743486/memory-limits-500-error-huge-uploading-issues the details: Our server support set the maximum upload file size to 100 Megabytes. I am using the following ini_sets at the top of the script: set_time_limit(0); ini_set("memory_limit",-1); ini_set('max_execution_time', 0); Here's where I think the problem is. Due to the amount of testing I have to do to make this script work; I probably do about 10 uploads a day. This is really stressing the server, as well as the fact that their site is receiving about 500 visits a day at the moment as well. Monthly Bandwidth Transfer: 12775.43 / 3000 MB Any ideas I can return to my boss with regarding this issue? It kinda needed to be done today, and I'm still working on cleaning issues but if it's a bandwidth thing then we can't do the test again until tomorrow when the server resets it's monthly bandwidth. Thanks for any ideas. Notes: This has worked in the past. If I do smaller sized files, it works just as well, but the client explicitly requires us to use this 48 Megabyte .csv file. Notes again: It seems like the upload tool is working to an extent because it posts and uploads to the folder I wa

I have installed most of your plugins in my multisite and allocated far more server error memory than the limits allow in my PHP.ini Yet, I can access the admin for a while and then I get 500 errors as I activate the plugins. 98% of the plugins I am using are by WPMU and even when I disable 2% that are not, I still get the 500 Error and all the sites are inaccessible. I was wondering if you internal server error could help me out so I can get going once and for all. I've allocated 256M already when the max is 64M. I wonder if I should just install separate instances of WP for my sites and run the plugins individually in each site with the sites having their own database. Thank you for your prompt assistance. Memory Exhausted Error [Resolved] Server Error 500 -- Memory Exhausted Error June Cleaver @bgom9021msncom 8 months, 2 weeks ago I've been receiving the Server error 500 for about a week now about 40% of the the times that I do anything on the website from the simplest page view to back-end admin tasks. The PHP error log contains numerous occurrences of the following message. [25-Jan-2016 16:18:09 UTC] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7340009 bytes) in /home/sbwebspot/public_html/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/core/modules/backup/class-itsec-backup.php on line 206 That's a lot of memory! Deactivating the iThemes Security plugin has stopped the server errors and the error log entries. Naturally this gives me an uncomfortable feeling in more ways than one. Does anyone have any ideas what the issue may be? https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/ Viewing 3 replies - 1 through 3 (of 3 total) dwinden @dwinden 8 months, 2 weeks ago @june Cleaver The problem is caused by the Scheduled Database Backup feature of the iTSec plugin. Disable it temporarily and then wait and see whether that fixes the issue. dwinden dwinden @dwinden 8 months, 2 weeks ago @june Cleaver If you require no further assistance please mark this topic as ‘resolved'. dwinden June Cleaver @bgom9021msncom 8 months, 2 weeks ago The recommended step did stop the server 500 (out of memory) errors. Thanks a bunch. Most curious that this could be an issue in a mature product. Viewing 3 replies - 1 through 3 (of 3 total) You must be logged in to reply to this topic.
