Id 7001 Discussion in 'Hardware' started by whril, Jul 8, 2013. whril Private First Class I have recently replaced a hard drive in my computer and installed Windows 7. The last couple of days the computer has an issue with restarting. It restarts but then hangs on the reboot. After shutting down it does start normally. I ran the Even Log and Event Id 7001 shows numerous times. Mainly with the error of Service Control Manager not starting. How do I solve this issue please. smile whril whril, Jul 8, 2013 #1 gman863 MajorGeek Does the PC have a fingerprint reader installed and/or Tursted Platform Module (TPM) enabled in the BIOS? If so, this may help: http://social.technet.microsoft.com...-4a14-8d50-a65fc754f9a1/event-7001-on-startup gman863, Jul 8, 2013 #2 whril Private First Class Does the PC have a fingerprint reader installed and/or Tursted Platform Module (TPM) enabled in the BIOS?Click to expand... There is no fingerprint reader installed. Doesn't seem to be a tpm in the bios either. There must have been at one time because this machine has run for years with no problems what so ever. I did check to see where I could download a tpm driver at and truthfully I am lost. The more I look the more lost I become. Is it a Motherboard driver or a Chipset driver? Can you point me in the right direction? smile whril whril, Jul 8, 2013 #3 gman863 MajorGeek If you don't see "Trusted Platform Module" (or "TPM") as an option in the BIOS, your computer likely doesn't have it or support it. At this point, I'd download and install Advanced System Care. Run a complete scan/repair - be sure to check all the available options. If ASC shows and repairs a disk error, restart the PC and run the "Disk Doctor" option in the "Toolbox". If you still see disk errors, the problem may be a failing hard drive. gman863, Jul 8, 2013 #4 whril Private First Class I will run the program, however this is a new hard drive with a clean install of Windows 7 on it, so it is improbable that it is a failing drive. The computer has run for years, also on Windows 7, with never a shut down or restart issue. This has only come with the recent install. Will let you know the results of the scan. smile whril whril, Jul 8, 2013 #5 whril Private First Class I ran the program. No hard disk errors. Mostly Registry errors. I did run the fix. Right after the fix the Mouse and Keyboard refused to work properly. I can not close out the program, save a text file or shut down as the Mouse and Keyboard are doing what they want to do
