Sometimes a simple re-boot will clear and resume normal printing function. This error keeps returning and I can't find obvious reason for it??Has anyone experienced this error condition?Any help will be greatly appreciated!Thank you~!Duane RE: HP LaserJet 4100N 49.4c04 service error Sweg (IS/IT--Management) 2 Nov 06 15:56 A 49.xxxx error is a communication error. When you say that a restart clears the error message this means that there probably is a specific print job causing the issue. Try using another driver (PCL5e or PS). the failure of a printer module. Here's my method for isolating the cause:Verify that the problem is not being caused by a specific job, this error can be caused by hp laserjet p2055dn 49 err 3d910c8 bad information being sent to the printer, never try to fix a printer when hp printer error codes list it's not broken,

printer. (some procedures below)Power off, remove any optional memory, power on and retest.Power off and reseat any memory and firmware modules on the formatter board, power on and test.Power off, reseat the formatter board, power http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1297172 on and test.Check firmware version, on newer machines with flashable firmware upgrade to the latest version. If you are running the latest version reload it, this might fix corrupted firmware. (Some printers have flashable firmware, others use a Firmware DIMM which must be replaced to upgrade.)If you haven't found the cause yet it's time to start swapping parts, here's the order I find logical.Firmware module if it's a DIMM as opposed http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/46901 to being part of the formatter.Memory if installed, some printers have to have at least one memory module installed to run, and it must have enough capacity to function, in some cases installing a module that does not meet the minimum requirements of the machine will cause a 49 error, (I saw this recently testing a LaserJet 9000).The Formatter.------------------------------Cold Reset:LaserJet 4000/4100/5000: Power off printer, wait about 5 seconds, push and hold the GO button, then power it on. When Cold Reset appears on the display let go of the button.LaserJet 4250: Power off printer, wait about 5 seconds, then power it on, when asterisks start appearing on the display press and hold the check mark until all 3 lights come on solid, then use arrow keys to find cold reset and push check mark to perform the reset.-----------------------------------I would appreciate other Tech's reading this thread to add their thought and approaches.ST Respond to this 0 In 9/10 situations 49 errors comes from the job itself. Only thing you need to do is to clear the printserver and restart the printer. If you dont remove the job from the printserver the printer works great without beeing plugged in and when you connect it the bad job comes again and cause 49.xx
see is this code. I looked it up on HP.com but it is not mentioned there. Anyone can help? TIA, Svenny Top HP4100 49.4C04 Service Error by http://www.verycomputer.com/14_a076d946ee2ee238_1.htm mag.. » Fri, 04 Oct 2002 06:51:32 >Hi all, >does anybody know something about this error code? I can't use the printer >anymore, all I see is this code. I looked it up on HP.com but it is not >mentioned there. >Anyone can help? >TIA, >Svenny It means you have a firmware error of some sort. Have tried to print from a different application? If it prints from other service error applications, contact the software vendor. If not, you may have a memory problem. Power down the printer, disconnect all cables that connect it to the LPT port or network. Remove all memory DIMMS except for the Firmware DIMM in the lowest slot. Turn the printer on. If the error is gone, then install the memory DIMMS one by one but make sure you turn the printer off each error hp laserjet time you do. If on the other hand the error is still there without the DIMMS you should replace the Firmware DIMM or the Formater Board. Good Luck. Best regards Frank Top 1. HP LaserJet 9000DN stops with `49,4c02 service error' Has anyone out there with a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 9000DN with Rev. 2.4 (09/11/2001) or the earlier (04/11/2001) firmware seen it stop and display `49,4c02 service error'? (The 09/11/2001 firmware is that offered on the HP `Firmware' web page for the printer as I write.) So far, I've only been able to produce the error with PostScript produced on Windows 2000 with Acrobat Reader 4.05 and the driver `PSCRIPT.DLL' 5.1. I've reported this to HP, but does anyone have a work-around? John A. Murdie 2. P.S.I. will it run under 6.1? 3. HP Jetdirect & SBS 4.0a problem 4. HP 4500: 49 error (0358) 5.
