Thread originally posted on 25 April 2012]Hi,Our MF cobol code exes and dlls are running (backend services) in windows 2003 R2 server. Its been 6 years and there are no changes made to it. When we try to set up a new environment in a different windows 2003 R2 server, it is failing with signal 11 (error name is mentioned in the subject) after processing few policies. Can anyone provide the right way to approach this problem? Is it anything access related issue? It is working fine, if we do the same set up in XP desktop machines. What is this SQLSVR32? Is it a dll or method? I am unable to find any dlls with this name instead there are versions of SQLSRV32.dlls are present in the machine.I don't know on which version of MF cobol, the exes/dlls are built. If there is any
any attempt to compile COBOL Developers Suite programs using the 'cob' command. The following message was included https://supportline.microfocus.com/kbdocs/KBdo390.HTM with the Run Time System error message: execution error: file "direct 2" error code 114 The user stated that the COBOL Developers Suite development system had been in use for months with no problems evident and suddenly the Run Time System errors occurred. The user was advised to investigate any signal 11 and all changes made to the system in question, paying special attention to access permissions and UNIX kernel configuration changes. Resolution Investigation revealed that there was a completely unrelated piece of software running on the same machine, using 'shared memory,' and reporting error conditions indicating it detected an 'out of space' attempt to access condition for 'shared memory'. Rebooting the machine cleared the problem. When this particular Run Time System error occurs when attempting to compile COBOL Developers Suite programs, the focus of the problem investigation must not be restricted to COBOL Developers Suite only. Problems with shared memory in any concurrently executing software can impact the COBOL Developers Suite development product. This problem was corrected by rebooting the UNIX operating system although the basic cause of the problem (Shared Memory Out of Space errors) has not been addressed. Notes: Other causes for Run Time System error 114 at compile time include: File permissions incorrect for TMPDIR Usage of NFS mounted file systems, which create file permissions problems Several problem reports are on file which indicate that modification of certain Shared Memory Kernel configuration parameters may lead to these errors.
