Configuration Topics, Troubleshooting68323 Views, 42 CommentsTitle:"Common Software Manager" helpContent:I have, since installation of DNS 11.5, and PDF Pro8, had the pop-up of "Common Software Manager" it seems to want to run when I start the computer. This is listed in the Dragon program files as "ctfmngr" so I know it is from Dragon. Any thoughts? Not sure how to help it. Carol isuspm.exe common software manager Palmer Average Rating: 3 ratings|Sign in to rate this Comment1 2 Next → posted July 13, 2012 by Lindsay Adam Permalink You could try looking in your registry (type "regedit" in the start menu for Windows 7) at the following Windows start-up location keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run You may find a start-up key entry for the Common Software Manager on the right-hand pane at one of these locations. Just right click on it and delete the key on the right-hand pane. Take the usual registry precautions. I have two instances of the Common Software Mgr after startup. "Check for Updates" is unchecked on both programs. Why do vendors make their customers jump through such ridiculous hoops? This can be a very rewarding an accurate program. But incredibly Nuance Dragon released Dragon for Mac 6.0 with what their tech support referred to as a "known problem" with https://www.knowbrainer.com/forums/forum/textthread.cfm?catid=4&threadid=7163 using this program to dictate in Microsoft Word the world's most widely used word processing program.What does "known problem" mean? Answer? Nuance can't fix it. So I have bought a program that simply doesn't software manager work -- Dragon for Mac 6.0 freezes after three or four minutes of dictation -- and not only does Nuance not work, tech support has no idea when a solution might be forthcoming. I ask if the program will work with Apple's Pages program - and am told that "we think so." Doesn't this wretched company test their programs before releasing them onto the market -- with nuance update manager a very steep upgrade price for a program that, can like its predecessor, simply doesn't work. I've owned dragon for years and have had ongoing issues where I purchased an upgrade online in response to an email and then I call the company and they don't have any record of me. I find out later somehow they're split into different entities and if you buy online it's an inferior experience. Anyway, I just wanted to support what others were saying is that the lack of response, the poor english skills of people answering calls and just the general "vibe" from this company is poor. I will not buy pdf from them again because of this, but I don't know that there's an alternative for the Dragon product.Helpful?YesNoBC of Morrison, CO on Aug. 24, 2016Satisfaction RatingI first used Paperport 9, then bought the Pro version of 12. Now suddenly, after several years, they included an update that invalidates its use unless I buy an update I don't need or want.
