Print Spooler Service Not Running Androidset preferences I get the same error message: Print spool service not running. Unable to perform operation. Also when I go through "XP Service" and enable (start) print spool nothing happens. I have tried deleting the files in http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-hardware/print-spooler-service-will-not-start-error-1058/c8827f4c-57f3-45e0-ae6e-c069d8631e56 the registry key like Microsoft Knowledge base has said to. Then I try to use the command prompt to "net start spooling," but nothing happens when I hit enter and I can't type anything anymore. I also can't add a printer because it says "operation could not be completed" What else can I try? printer. Mine was lost a week or so ago. No printers are currently installed, whatever happened wiped them out. I cannot http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/print-spooler-problem-error-1058.2764094/ add a printer because the spooler will not start. I get a 1058 error, "service cannot be started because it is either disabled or it has no enabled devices" I have tried to http://superuser.com/questions/284329/printer-spooler-fails-to-start start it manually, and the HP printer software has tried to fix the problem, but so far, nothing. I have uninstalled the HP printer software, started the dependencies it said it needed, spooler service tried everythign HP suggested, and stillnothing. The probelm is in my windows XP, but I have no idea how to get the spooler to turn on. Any ideas? There are no printers visible in Devices and Printers though the total count is still there. When I go to Add a printer i receive the error: Windows can't open Add Printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine And then when I look at the running services Spooler says: Failed to Read Description. Error Code: 193 I don't know where to start! Update: When starting manually, I get this error: Windows could not start the Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. windows-7 printer print-spooler share|improve this question edited May 18 '11 at 0:17 Not Kyle stop stalking me 8,38122144 asked May 16 '11 at 17:48 Alan Whitelaw 307218 Is that error what you receive when you try to start it manually? –Not Kyle stop stalking me May 16 '11 at 17:56 @Kyle, added the error I get when manually starting to the question.
