a problem and needs to close." I encountered the error when trying to install an HP Laserjet 1015 printer on a customer's computer. The HP installation CD would install to the point of plugging in the http://www.pchell.com/support/spoolersubsystem.shtml USB cable for the printer into the computer and then invariably the message shown above would pop onto the screen. When I would click OK, the printer installer would proceed to uninstall everything it just loaded and no http://www.gameaddict.eu/hp-lj-1020-spooler-subsystem-error-fix/ printer would show up in the Printers Control Panel. Since this was the customer's only printer, it needed to be installed no matter what. So I proceeded to try Microsoft's solution to the problem (shown below), however 3 spooler subsystem hours later I still was no closer to installing the printer. I also tried running the System File Checker by following the instructions below: 1) Click on Start, Run 2) Type in the following command and press Enter SFC /SCANNOW 3) The System File Checker will run and check your system for missing or corrupted files, if it finds a corrupted file, it will ask for your Windows CD-ROM to install a new copy of the spooler subsystem app file to your hard drive. Unfortunately, it my case, this didnt solve the problem either. The key to the whole problem was the fact the customer had just upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP. The printer worked fine under Windows 98, but would not install under Windows XP. Simple Solution for HP Laserjet 1010/1012/1015 printer Ultimately, because the system was recently upgraded to Windows XP, the problem was older HP .dll files still on the system causing the spooler problem. 1) Open My Computer, Tools, Folder Options, View and click on the option for Show hidden files and folders 2) Now, uncheck the option for "hide extensions for known file types" and click OK 3) Click on Start, Search and in the left column choose All Files and Folders 4) In the "all or part of the filename" box type the following hpzimn12.dll 5) Make sure the "look in" box has Drive C selected (or whichever drive windows is installed on) 6) Click on Search 7) If the "hpzimn12.dll" file is found, right-click on it and Delete it. 8) Reboot your computer and run the installation CD that came with your printer. Hopefully this will solve your problem, if it doesnt proceed with the following instructions from Microsoft's Knowledge Base about resolving this issue. Whenever a computer system is upgraded from one OS to another
works for HP LJ 1018, 1020, and 1022 only on 32 bit Windows. Best HP 1020 driver. [ad#Google Adsense-1] The FIX!!! Download the archive with the Zenographics files from the link below, these files are from the original hp 1020 driver. http://gameaddict.eu/downloads/HP_1020_zenographics_files.zip and extract the files into the location below in bold text. The files need to be copied into: C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3 location. If this doesn't work then find the entire Zenographics hp 1020 driver towards the end of the post. You might need to use the kb2000007 to clean or reset your print spooler to defaults, after which you can re-install the Zenographics driver for HP LaserJet 1020 1018 and 1022. That's it!!! The story of the fix is below. First and foremost happy new year!!! I know is late but this is my first input on 2010, and I didn't want to write something just for the sake of writing. I wanted to have something to say. So this time is a tutorial on how to fix the HP LaserJet 1020 Spooler susbsystem error. I even called HP and to tell them that there is an hp laserjet 1020 driver issue, but they were claiming that my system is corrupt. I accepted but still waited for that file that would guarantee the crash every time I would try to print it on the printer. About two months later that file produced the error. So I saved the file and called 'em back. The HP official stand by was: "Microsoft's Fault". I knew is not Microsoft's fault, at least not in this case. Anyway I got annoyed that HP would not admit to the problem and I decided to call Microsoft to ask them to remove the digital signature because HP would not own up to it. (I even called HP back to tell them that I found the solution. I also wanted to throw it in their face that I was right to begin with. It was a driver issue. I might not be the proper thing to throw it back at them but anyway they denied. The dully sworn in HP employee took this high tone and said "Our engineers build all our drivers". Well false, cause I have the proof that the files were built by Zenographics and Marvell.) [ad#Google Adsense-1] I called Microsoft and some guy answered and he tried to give me the kb2000007 tool to fix my problem. I told him that I know about that fix it app, and it is not what I called for. I was on the phone with him for like 2 hours and eventually he made me change the print
