When I activated my phone port-over number to Sprint from T-Mobile, they managed to get the calling and SMS to work (send and receive), but no data will work. When I re-boot the phone, "Hands Free Activation: Contacting network" message comes on, spins for several minutes, and tells me "Your activation could not be completed. Error 1012" We called Sprint in the store and they said everything was activated on my line, I just have to wait for the phone to activate the data. Anyone else experiencing this? Created a ticket to RingPlus support, but haven't heard sprint error back from them yet. Any help on this would be appreciated. KentE 2015-10-27 23:22:14 UTC #2 I'm not an expert, and have never seen that error code or owned the same phone, but I did look around a little for your problem. Found one user who said removing the battery for 30 seconds and rebooting solved the problem. (On sprint error 1012 a lot of phones, this forces a "soft" reset of the phone OS). Another mentioned that the cause of their similar problem (same error code) seemed to be related to an old username still listed in the data section of the phone (assuming yours is an used phone.). I've had some luck with that issue by using performing a ##786# reset (return to new), rather than the ##72786# carrier reset-- it seems to go further into the phone OS to remove old information, although it might also wipe out any information you've put on the phone (contacts list, added files, etc.)-- so good to make notes before you try this. In my case, this did allow (after a reboot) for the username to change to the proper new one. (something like "my phone number" @mvno271.sprintpcs.com.) The phone should auto-fill that correctly when rebooting after the ##786# reset.
