I'm installing from two iso images from MSDN download library. I have two CD's as a result. I read the KB and I don't think this is the problem. I'm copying an excerpt from the log file. When I tried to install it, it tells me that I have a newer version installed on installing sql 2005 my pc. So, I checked that Microsoft Sharepoint 2010 installed some sql server 2008 tools for me. I decided to uninstall SharePoint 2010(which I wasn't using) and then tried to install MS SQL Server 2005 again. By the way, I also installed SharePoint 2010 on a server, prior to SQL Server 2008. Had to install SQL Server 2008 on another machine as apparently some component of Sharepoint 2010 beta is newer and causes issues. I get a lot of questions about how to get the two files you need. The best way to do this is to create a Virtual Machine using HyperV in Windows 8, or VMWare WorkStation, install a trial copy of Windows 7, install a trial copy of SQL 2005 and upgrade it with all the latest Service Packs. Then go get those files and copy them from the VM to your local hard drive, or upload them to Google Drive, OneDrive, or Dropbox from the VM.
