Cause of "Token Unknown SQL code 104" Errors When Creating Tables Abstract: A Possible Cause of "Token Unknown SQL code 104" Errors When Creating Tables Problem: I am getting the message Dynamic SQL Error -SQL error code = -104 -Token unknown - line 1, char 13 -names when I try to create a table. Here is my create syntax : create table names (a char(1), b char(1)) Solution: You are getting this error because you are using a keyword as a table name. The word "names" is a keyword in InterBase. For more information on keywords in InterBase, consult the Keywords chapter in InterBase Language Reference. Note: A complete list of InterBase 5 keywords is on page 168 of the InterBase 5.0 Language Reference book, in the chapter on "Keywords." A list of keywords that are new in InterBase 5 is on page 23 of the InterBase 5.0 Operations Guide, in the section on "Migrating from InterBase 4 to InterBase 5". You will need to quote it to be able to use it as a column (or other object) in a query. So change it to: INSERT INTO BASE(..., MODEL, "DATE", DEVICE_TYPE,...) ... For dates you shouldn't use a CHAR type, but a DATE type instead. share|improve this answer answered Jan 27 '14 at 9:39 Mark Rotteveel 36.2k84677 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Always use Date() for dates... 07.01.2014 use this 2014-01-07 INSERT INTO BASE(ID,INV_NUM,PRODUCER_TYPE,PRODUCER_COUNTRY,MODEL,DATE,DEVICE_TYPE,NAME,SURNAME,MIDDLE,DOB) VALUES(1,112,'D-Link','China','AP','2004-10-12','Asd','Wood','Ivanov','Middle','2014-01-07') share|improve this answer edited Jan 27 '14 at 9:39 answered Jan 27 '14 at 9:19 Nagaraj S 7,14051636 1 Better yet is to use the ISO-8601 format (yyyy-MM-dd), so 2014-01-07, but it isn't the cause of the error. –Mark Rotteveel Jan 27 '14 at 9:36 @MarkRotteveel I have updated –Nagaraj S Jan 27 '14 at 9:39 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. I have checked that I have the latest available driver installed. The code runs correctly in the database and produces an answer, that looks correct (not tested yet). the code is: SELECT PATADVFORM.PATIENTID, Max(PATADVFORM.WHENFORM) as Latest_Form_Date, PATAFTERMVALUE.VALUEASSTRING, PATAFTERMVALUE.TERMCODE FROM PATAFTERMVALUE RIGHT OUTER JOIN PATADVFORM ON ((PATADVFORM.PATIENTID=PATAFTERMVALUE.PATIENTID and PATADVFORM.WHENFORM=PATAFTERMVALUE.WHENFORM)) WHERE PATAFTERMVALUE.TERMCODE = 'INC.L' and PATAFTERMVALUE.VALUEASSTRING IS NOT NULL GROUP BY PATADVFORM.PATIENTID, PATAFTERMVALUE.VALUEASSTRING, PATAFTERMVALUE.TERMCODE NOTE that I have tried naming all columns with statements like 'as Latest_Form_Date', but that did not help. I have tried the most simplest derived Table (ie just 1 object selected from a single table) and still get the same error message. I suspect its some setting I have not turned on in my Universe. I am using Universe Designer 12.1.0.882 (XI) on a Windiows XP machine any ideas whats going wrong or what I
