Bcp 0 Rows Copied
PM Points: 3, Visits: 1 Hi,I have a weird problem with bcp. Below is my bcp commandmaster..xp_cmdshell 'BCP Mydb.dbo.tb_user in D:\test.dat -b10000 -fD:\test.fmt -SDevbox -Utest_user -Ptest_user'This was earlier working on SQL 6.5 box. bcp format file Now, am doing the same operation on 2000 after migration. But I get the following errorStarting copy...SQLState = 22001, NativeError = 0Error = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]String data, right truncationNULL0 rows copied. But I was told that this works fine in the earlier SQL 6.5 setup. I see from the format file, the column delimiter is "" and row delimiter is \r.Am I missing something here ? Also, I tried using bcp for another data file and I get the following errorSQLState = S1002, NativeError = 0Error = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Invalid Descriptor IndexDo this an issue with the ODBC ? Please let me know if anybody has faced this issues, as its very critical. Thanks in advance. Its the same. The dat file has a new line character as rowdelimiter. The bcp is unable to read that. I have 25 columns in the table. And I get an error while inserting the 25 th column in the table. I know it's something to do with the physical server as this test works on sql server other servers fine. SQL2k Ent sp4 on w2k3 ent sp1. ( clustered ) Server and Agent accounts are in local admins, tried push and pull, named and anonymous. Replication also fails if I use the default snapshot location. I suspect policy restrictions ( maybe on the sql service accounts ) Any pointers would be helpful invalid descriptor index - there are no errors other than above, sadly. Can you do a distribution..sp_helptext 'sp_MSadd_distribution_history' to see if the parameters are lined up properly? If you have a working environment, you may also want to compare the text of the sp_MSadd_distribution_history proc and see if you can find any suspicious differences. -Raymond Monday, October 09, 2006 8:19 PM Reply | Quote All replies 0 Sign in to vote can you cut/paste the entire agent error output? There are no other error messages within any of the logs. Have re-applied replication over 12 times now. Wednesday, October 04, 2006 7:12 AM Reply | Quote 0 Sign
