We have an Access database that we use to run queries on a SQL database hosted on our server. We are using SQL Server 2008 R2. When setting up the User DSN in ODBC Administrator these are the settings being used: https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27896632/SQL-State-01000-Error-11001-and-State-08001-Error-6.html Name: Name Description: Description Server: Server\Database Using SQL Authentication Client Configuration Settings are set to connect via TCP/IP Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration options is checked. Login ID: Username Password: Password We are using SQL authentication because the user is not connected to the domain. TCP/IP has been enabled from within SQL Server Configuration Manager and the Client Configuration. Firewalls between the computer and server have been disabled during testing with no luck. I've tried searching Google but I have been unable to find a solution that works for us. I appreciate your help! Edit: Here is the full error message Connection failed: SQLState: '01000' SQL Server Error: 11001 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Can you ping the SQL server from the Linux box? Make sure you have the SQL server listening for connections. Here is an article on Microshaft's website about your exact problem:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818047Microsoft actually has a decent database of support so I highly recommend reading it. 0Votes Share Flag Collapse - We can just by toms45 · 9 years ago In reply to ODBC CONECTION FAILED poke around in the dark here, or you could post your connection string so we'd stand a chance of answering your question. As it stands, I could guess that you've got a typo, a down server, a locked port, dandruff, halitosis, or...you get the idea. Why are you installing DLLs? Is that some kind of Unix magic fix? At least I hope you will post your code. Maybe I can help... 0Votes Share Flag Back to Networks Forum 3 total posts (Page 1 of 1) Search Start New Discussion Start New Discussion Create a ne

It happened suddenly and it only happens on my PC which I use for development. All other clients on the network can connect as usually. I tried to create new DSN connections using the following drivers: "SQL Server", "SQL Server Native Client 11.0", "ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server". None of these can establish successful connection. I searched a lot on the Internet and tried various options, but none worked. I checked and disabled the firewalls on the server and my PC. I can connect to the old SQL Server on the same network on another PC. I tried to create another server instance, but it didn't help. I can connect through SSMS. When I try to create a new DSN connection, the server name is listed in the dropdown box. Here are some errors that I have faced while trying to establish the connection: Connection failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server Error: 0 [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0]Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection Connection failed: SQLState: 'HYT00' SQL Server Error: 0 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Login timeout expired Connection failed: SQLState: '01000' SQL Server Error: 10061 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]ConnectionOpen (Connect()).
