If value_in_use is 0 for this:SELECT name, value_in_useFROM sys.configurationsWHERE name = N'remote access'Then you'll want to log into the server again, from the local server, and run this:EXEC sys.sp_configure N'remote access', N'1'GORECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDEGO __________________________________________________________________________________________________There are no special teachers of virtue, because virtue is taught by the whole community. --Plato Post #1291829 Alan KwanAlan Kwan Posted Friday, April 27, 2012 2:28 PM SSC Rookie Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Wednesday, August 31, 2016 12:16 PM Points: 46, Visits: 186 I checked the value, it was set to 1. If so, your error message says DBNETLIB which points to you may be using a SQL 2000 driver. Do you have the SQL Native Client
does not exist or access denied. I get this error message with SQL Server 2005 on an XP Pro machine. I don't need network access - the intention is a single user on a single machine. I can log in using the management studio with no problem . I get this error message when I try to create an ODBC connection. I have tried both with and without the \SQLEXPRESS appended to it. Here is the entire text of the error message: Connection failed: SQL State: '01000' SQL Server Error: 10060 [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [TCP/IP Sockets] ConnectionOpen(Connect()) Connection failed: SQLState: '08001' SQL Server Error: 17 [Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] [TCP/IP Sockets] SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Desperately need help Re: SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Hedrew3 (peterg12345@gmail.com) writes: > I get this error message with SQL Server 2005 on an XP Pro machine. So the ODBC connection is trying to use TCP/IP when shared memory would be better. While you could address it by enabling TCP/IP, it seems better to try to get shared memory working. What does your connection string look like? If you open a command-line window and run "OSQL -E -S .\SQLEXPRESS" how does that go? -- Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, esquel@sommarskog.se Books Online for SQL Server 2005 at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...ads/books.mspx Books Online for SQL Server 2000 at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinf...ons/books.mspx Re: SQL Server does not exist or access denied. Try to do this: type in your run shortcut (in start-run->) CLICONFG (or go to your client network utility or SQL Server configuration manager ) . Create one alias to your sql instance with TCP/IP protocol. If don´t work , try to do with named pipe. Sds! Kris Hedrew3 wrote: >I get this error message with SQL Server 2005 on an XP Pro machine.
