Sql Server Connection Problem
exist o SQL Server > Getting started with SQL Server Question 0 Sign in to vote Help, setup a connection failed sqlstate 08001 sql server error 17 new sql server 2012 on a windows 2012r2 server to replace old sql server 2005 on an old windows server 2003 machine. When i test the ODBC connection locally on the server https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/195566 it works fine, however when i try to connect via windows 7 client machine i get the following error: Connection failed: SQLState:'01000' SQL Server Error:67 [Microsoft]ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen (Connect()). Connection failed: SQLState:'08001' SQL Server Error:17 [Microsoft]ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied I think it must be a permissions thing, I've turned off the firewall for now and https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/bf87871c-a4ce-464f-9566-1ab903b74ed2/connection-failed-sqlstate01000-sql-server-error67-microsoftodbc-sql-server?forum=sqlgetstarted still no difference, 've also made sure remote connection is enabled. I can connect to the other sql server in studio manager on the new machine however, i can't go do the same in the old server, says: cannot connect to hbfsqlpro1\hbfsqlpro1 Additonal information a network related or instance specifc error occured while establising a connection to SQL server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider:SQL Network Interfaces, error 26 - error locationg server/instance specified) (Microsoft SQL server) the instance is def correct, as that is what i use to connect locally on the new machine and what it comes up on the studio manager on the new machine. STarting to pull my hair out somewhat, i'm sure it's something really simple! Make sure the SQL Server Browser service is started on the SQL Server computer. Make sure TCP/IP is enabled. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms19129

Connection Failed error https://bytes.com/topic/sql-server/answers/947674-connection-failed-error-connecting-ms-sql-server connecting to MS SQL Server Expert 2.5K+ P: 2,765 Seth Schrock I'm trying to add a data source to my computer through the ODBC Data Source wizard. However, I keep getting an error that says Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers ConnectionFailed: SQLState:'01000' SQLServerError:2 [Microsoft][ODBCSQLServerDriver][SharedMemory]ConnectionOpen(Connect()). ConnectionFailed: SQLState:'08001' SQLServerError:17 [Microsoft][ODBCSQLServerDriver][SharedMemory]SQLServerdoesnotexistoraccessdenied I'm running SQL Server 2005 and today is my first day using it. I know that the server exists, so I'm thinking sql server that the problem is the access denied part. I have created a test database called "Testing" just to see how to connect to it through Access. I'm using Windows Authentication. I added my username to the logins list and gave it every possible server role and mapped the user to the Testing database. I have turned on TCP/IP connections to allow remote PCs to be able to connect sql server error to it. At this point, I haven't been able to find anything else to try. This is 100% new to me. Thankfully, my extremely limited knowledge of MySQL has help a little, but not much. Mar 11 '13 #1 Post Reply Share this Question 2 Replies Expert 2.5K+ P: 2,765 Seth Schrock After trying anything and everything that I could think of, I discovered the problem. When I was selecting the server, it just listed the host name of the server and didn't include the server instance. So now my SQL Server that I'm connecting to is TESTLAPTOP\SQLEXPRESSTEST instead of just TESTLAPTOP. I'm now able to create the data source just as I want it.
