Microsoft Sql Server Error 4064 Login Failed
Connection failed: SQLState '42000' SQL Server Error: 4064 Micorosft SQL server Native Client 10.0 SQL Server cannot open user default database. Login failed. the login seems to be valid but the login does not have access rights to the default database. Please check if the login is mapped in the database to a user and the user does have access to the database the default database does exists Access to a database in SQL Server is controlled by 2 level level 1: SQL login which controls access to the SQL Server instancelevel 2: database user - a login is mapped to a user in a database and a user in a database is different to the same user (name) in a different database even if the user name is the same. a mapped user needs permission to access the database Please use Mark as Answer if my post solved your problem and use Vote As Helpful if a post was useful. When I logged in under sa (default = master) and checked the properties of the NT Login group the default database was blank. Solved Permissions problem connecting to remote SQL Server Posted on 2008-08-29 MS SQL Server MS SQL Server 2005 1 Verified Solution 13 Comments 1,492 Views Last Modified: 2008-09-23 I have a MS SQL Server 2005 database. I have a user account configured and from my local machine I can configure an ODBC connection pointing to this database with the login and password as defined in the database, and everything works just fine. On another computer, I installed SQL Server 2005 Express and made an exact copy of the .mdf file from the first computer, on the second computer. I attached that database in the Management Studio without error. On that machine I could, as well, configure an ODBC connection with the username/password and connect to it just fine. The problem is when I want to point the ODBC connection on one computer, to the database on the other computer. I have used the surface area configuration tool to allow remote connections, and started the browser service. When I try to create the ODBC connection, I click the drop-down to show servers, and the remote server appears in the list, which I then choose. I specify the default database. I get this error: Connection Failed: SQLState: '28000' SQL Server Error: 18456 [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Login failed for user 'alpha'. Connection failed: SQL State: '42000' SQL Server Error: 4064 [Microsoft][SQL Native Client][SQL Server]Cannot open user default databas
