Conversion error during model data update on VIOS? bdapriv01 (Programmer) (OP) 5 Feb 14 15:09 Hi So I have a IBM JS20 Blade, running VIOS. I'm trying to create a I5 partition. When I goto create a new partition using the wizard, I get to the Create Partition: Optical/Tape portion -- After selecting base media, I click next and I get some weird "Conversion error during model data update" error, and it won't goto the next step. Any ideas? RE: Conversion error during model data update on VIOS? unixfreak (ISP) 25 Feb 14 06:17 Hi, I think you need to call IBM on this occasion. Also is TextBox11 the same as txt_OrderDate? –SLin Oct 30 '14 at 4:20 because the requirement is to convert the date to string while passing it to the database and the data type in the database is date. I removed the single quotes and still it gives the error. –Learner Oct 30 '14 at 4:32 | show 2 more comments 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(@"Data Source=BG9;Initial Catalog=Northwind;Integrated Security=True"); con.Open(); SqlDataAdapter ad1 = new SqlDataAdapter(); ad1.InsertCommand = new SqlCommand("insert into test_date values (CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),'" + TextBox1.Text+"',120))", con); ad1.InsertCommand.ExecuteNonQuery(); con.Close(); share|improve this answer edited Oct 30 '14 at 6:30 answered Oct 30 '14 at 4:53 Gaurav Jain 423213 i want to insert the data in the format of Date only. from what i can understand here you are passing it to the database as a string. am i correct? –Learner Oct 30 '14 at 5:10 In database field datatype is datetime and I am pass string format f

I have some dates in a table like this: 23/12/2013 16:34:32 24/12/2013 07:53:44 24/12/2013 09:59:57 24/12/2013 12:57:14 24/12/2013 12:48:49 24/12/2013 13:04:17 24/12/2013 13:15:47 24/12/2013 13:21:02 sql server 2008 24/12/2013 14:01:28 24/12/2013 14:02:22 24/12/2013 14:02:51 They are stored as strings unfortunately And I want to convert them to datetime SELECT CONVERT(datetime, analysed, 103 ) FROM OIL_SAMPLE_UPLOAD However I get this message when I run the query The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. Presumably because some values are badly formed (although I am yet to spot any of these) It's ok if some values don't convert, I just need a way of handling this situation. Something like ISNULL(CONVERT(datetime, analysed, 103 )) would be good except that the convert function does not return NULL when it fails. sql string tsql error-handling type-conversion share|improve this question asked Jan 29 '14 at 4:20 sav 7691922 to be clear the strings are in dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm:ss format –sav Jan 29 '14 at 4:31 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 10 down vote accepted For SQL Server you can use ISDATE() function to check whether value is valid date SELECT CASE WHEN ISDATE(analysed)=1 THEN CONVERT(date
