When I open this up manually and hit the button "test connection" all works fine. The connection manager can access the DB using the connection string, user and password. Now I have an SSIS sql state 28000 package where I created a connection manager based on this data source ("new connection from data source..."). In the package control flow I have an SQL task which has connection type OLE DB and connection is set to my connection manager within this very package. The task fires some update statement to the database, noting fancy at all. Now when I debug the whole thing I always get the same error: Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E4D. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server" Hresult: 0x80040E4D Description: "Login failed for user 'myUser'." FYI: myUser equals the user name I have for my database. So my question is: what am I missing here? I really can't see what's wrong here. I'm really stuck here. Any hints greatly appreciated! database ssis share|improve this question edited Sep 30 '15 at 17:56 AHiggins 5,23461839 asked May 30 '13 at 9:27 BaseBallBatBoy 3161817 Ddi you run the package in BIDS or though SQL server Agent? –Maximus May 30 '13 at 9:57 In BIDS I simply hit F5
SERVER - FIX : ERROR : Cannot open database requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user ‘NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'. August 20, 2009Pinal DaveSQL, SQL Server, SQL Tips and Tricks192 commentsThis error is quite common and I have received it few times while I was working on a recent consultation project.Cannot open database requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user ‘NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE'.This error occurs when you have configured your application with IIS, and IIS goes to SQL Server and tries to login with credentials that do not have proper permissions. This error can also occur when replication or mirroring is set up.If you search online, there are many different solutions provided to solve this error, and many of these solutions work fine. However, I will be going over a solution that works always and is very simple.Fix/Workaround/Solution:Go to SQL Server >> Security >> Logins and right click on NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE and select PropertiesIn newly opened screen of Login Properties, go to the “User Mapping” tab. Then, on the “User Mapping” tab, select the desired database – especially the database for which this error message is displayed. On the lower screen, check the role db_owner. Click OK.In almost all such cases, this should fix your problem.Reference : Pinal Dave (http://blog.sqlauthority.com) Tags: SQL Error Messages, SQL Login, SQL Scripts, SQL Server Security3Related Articles SQL SERVER - Common Sense Data Security - Notes from the Field #055 November 20, 2014Pinal Dave SQL SERVER - Two Methods to Retrieve List of Primary Keys and Foreign Keys of Database July 17, 2009Pinal Dave SQL SERVER - Understanding ALTER INDEX ALL REBUILD with Disabled Clustered Index May 12, 2010Pinal Dave 192 comments.
