Connection broken. DBLIB-Operating System Error 6: ConnectionClose (CloseHandle()). Once I hit the error, all the transactions are failing. I tried to re-initialize db connection http://www.sqlteam.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=35686 by calling dbclose() followed by initdb (this is a method that calls reinitialize db). The pseudocode is as follows err_handler(dberr,......){ catch dberr; if (dberr == 10025) { dbclose(); dbproc = NULL: dbfreelogin(login); initdb(); } } err_msghandler(...); bool initdb() { DBPROCESS* dbproc; LOGINREC* login; dberrhandler(err_handler); dbmsghandler(msg_handler); dbinit() login = dblogin(); dbproc = dbopen(login, NULL); ... ... } After I put in the initdb() https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/af34ff57-8a09-4550-aa04-671e0f8bdb78/how-to-recoonect-to-db-in-the-error-handler-for-dblib-error-10025?forum=sqldataaccess in the err_handler(), the process is crashing in dbopen() with the following error: Error in DbUnlockLib()...... Heap memory access violation... I think it may be something I am doing wrong calling initdb() in the err_handler(). Could some one please help how to reconnect the db when I hit the dblib error 10025 - Possible network failure? FYI, the application is 32 bit using dblib on SQL Server 2008 R2(64bit) and OS is windows 2008 R2(64bit). Thanks in advance. Solved Possible network error: Write to SQL Server Failed Posted on 2003-07-07 MS SQL Server 2 Verified Solutions 6 Comments 4,699 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-27 Hi, I have this Helpdesk application (lets say Server A), whose database is MSSQLServer2k (on server B) thru a sql server firewall. The operation works well most of the time. After 1-2 days, the helpdesk app start giving error if I try to save a new record. I have to restart the app, and inserting new record is successful again for 1-2 days. The log claims possible network problem, which drops the xsaction. IF thats true, how can I change the timeout value or something so that SQL server can tolerate slow network? Here's excerpt of the helpdesk error 10025 sql log, maybe it could help: ---------------- helpdesk log ---------------- 06/26 09:28:43.99 helpdesk sql_agent 3656 ERROR sqlclass.c 237 sql_errhandler: Error(10025) Sev(9) Possible network error: Write to SQL Server Failed. Discussion in 'SQL Server 2005 General DBA Questions' started by anniech2000, May 28, 2008. anniech2000 New Member We are running application on Ms SQL Server connecting to PowerBuilder 7.0.3, using MSS Microsoft SQL Server 6.X driver. We have recently migrated the SQL Server from 2000 to 2005 SP2, in which databases are still at compatability level 80. The application runs perfectly for one week, but later we received some occassional reports from users that database connection breaks after a certain idle period. Below are the errors, usually error 1 appears before error 2. Error 1 A database error has occured. Database error code: 10025 Database error message: Select error: Possible network error: Write to SQL Server Failed. General network error. Check your documentation. Error 2 A database error has occured. Database error code: 10005 Database error message: Select error: DBPROCESS is dead or not enabled. We couldn't find any related errors in the SQL Server log. Does anyone has the idea of what's wrong or how to trace the connection brokerage? Thanks in advance! anniech2000, May 28, 2008 #2 MohammedU New Member SQL will not close any connection to it unless you restart sql server or explicitly kill the command...if you are not doing any of these them change your application setting which might be closing the connection after certain time and not able to reconnect. MohammedU, May 28, 2008 #3 satya Moderator Do you have anti-virus or anti-=spyware installed on this server? Basically SQL is probably internally gpf'ing/AV'ing (same thing) - you should see messages to this effect in the SQL errorlog. The culprit would be database corruption or hardware problem, so have a thorough check on event log & SQL error log. satya, May 29, 2008 #4 mmyers7@hotmail.com New Member Check to make sure the database is not set to Auto Close connections. Right click database name, go to Options and uncheck Auto Close. Mary mmyers7@hotmail.com, Jun 2, 2008 #5 rohit2900 Member What will happen if the database is set to auto close connections? rohit2900, Jun 3, 2008 #6 mmyers7@hotmail.com New Member It doesn't help you if you are using pooled connections. Auto close keeps the connections cleaned up especially if your licensing is tight: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic351864-5-1.aspx#bm465277 http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2843018&SiteID=17 Here is SQL BOL info (depends on your version of SQ
