Error 26 In Sql Server 2008 R2
quite a frustrating issue.. I'm trying to create a 64-bit ODBC connection for an application to use, but I error 18456 in sql server 2008 r2 cannot get it to connect to my SQL server. This is the error I'm getting when trying to add the connection and obtain the default settings: Connection failed: SQLState: http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/736420/Error-while-connecting-sql-server '08001' SQL Server Error: 10061 [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]TCP Provider: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. Connection failed: SQLState 'HYT00' SQL Server Error: 0 [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0]Login timeout expired Now here's where things get weird, because as I understand it, this means that there's either a firewall issue, or the SQL instance is https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/4f7a06cb-fed5-4d6e-b62b-6c698dcd7f2d/problem-with-64bit-odbc-connection-to-sql-2008-r2?forum=sqldataaccess stopped. Neither of these are true. I know this, because I successfully made a 64-bit test connection to the same instance from another server, AND I can make a 32-bit ODBC connection from the server that is having issues. I've already reinstalled the instance, reinstalled the native client, made sure both servers are completely up-to-date, etc.I have no idea where to go from here. Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -Alex Thursday, March 10, 2011 9:47 AM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote I wiped out Server 2008 R2 on the client server and reinstalled, was able to make ODBC connection without any problems. ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ Daniel_WalzenbachApril 14, 2010143 0 0 0 You experience the following error message: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/walzenbach/2010/04/14/how-to-enable-remote-connections-in-sql-server-2008/ Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to https://www.toadworld.com/platforms/sql-server/b/weblog/archive/2012/06/04/sql-server-error-10061 allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) How to solve this issue? There are a couple of things that might be going on here… (All of the following configurations are made on the computer running your SQL Server 2008 instance) Allow remote connections to sql server this server The first thing you want to check is if Remote Connections are enabled on your SQL Server database. In SQL Server 2008 you do this by opening SQL Server 2008 Management Studio, connect to the server in question, right click the server… … and open the Server Properties. Navigate to Connections and ensure that Allow remote connections to this server is checked. Check if this solves the sql server 2008 problem. If it does, here you go, continue with whatever you were doing and have a nice day. Protocols for MSSQLServer If you’re still running in issues let’s dig a bit deeper. The next good thing to check is the SQL Server Network Configuration. Open the SQL Server Configuration Manager, unfold the node SQL Server Network Configuration and select Protocols for MSSQLServer (or whatever the name of your SQL Server instance is). Make sure that TCP/IP is enabled and try again. Even though I hope that this resolved your problems there might still be an issue with… The Firewall If there is still no communication happening between your computer and the remote SQL Server you most likely need to configure your firewall settings. A good first step is to figure out which port is being used by TCP/IP (and which you need to open in your firewall). You can do this by right clicking TCP/IP and selecting Properties. Click on the tab IP Addresses and voilà – Port 1433 it is 🙂 That was easy enough and all there is left to do is to allow inbound TCP/IP traffic on Port 1433 in your firewall. In Windows 7 this works something like this. Open the Contro
