Microsoft Sql Server Error 15007
Database SQL Server > SQL Server Express Question 0 Sign msg 15007 sql server in to vote Hi there, I am setting up a database for the first time using sqlserver 15007 SQL Server Express. I have managed to create a database and create a table with data etc, all straight forward. The problem I am having
Is Not A Valid Login Or You Do Not Have Permission Sql Server 2008 R2
is when I come to creating a user for the database. I have the following users in there already, which I am guessing are put in by default: dbo guest INFORMATION_SCHEMA sys When I try creating a new user via this screen I get the following error: TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
Msg 15007, Level 16, State 1

I am typing in the name as "growstudiouser" and the login name as "growstudio". Or am I just using the wrong section to do what I want. I'm trying to create a user so that when the database is built I can connect to it using a username and password that I have created. I'm not sure I'm taking to the correct route as there is no password option anywhere when creating a new user. Msg 15007, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 'primebox' is not a valid http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13123682/create-a-user-for-sql-server-2008 login or you do not have permission. The part that I don't understand is, I can create others users but this one in particular looks invalid I tried to rename my database and got this error Unable to rename primeboxs. (ObjectExplorer) Rename failed for Database 'primebox'. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo) An exception occurred while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo) The database could not be exclusively locked to perform the operation. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 5030) My guess is that the problem is the database name... but I got the code from another database (I'm creating a 'wanna be' backup) with the same user and database names. So I'm in a corner here... Any help will be a LOT appreciated =) PS: My computer name is box, windows 7. Users have database roles added for their sql server logins for each database (Eg: db_owner,public..). They do not have the sysadmin role though. In SQL 2000 also the user didnt have that particular role.So the problem is users do not have enough permission to create new users for example...i get a msg similar to this..:"....you do not have permission"Any ideas guys..? Is there a problem when transfering SQL 2000 users to SQL 2005?..Thankx in advance..:) Post #439325 ALZDBAALZDBA Posted Sunday, January 6, 2008 2:34 15007 sql server AM SSCertifiable Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Friday, September 30, 2016 3:27 AM Points: 6,822, Visits: 8,829 were they security admins at sql2000 side ?if yes, add them to the serverlevel security admins group.
