I had this problem while calling model pop ups. During my long search I've seen a bug registered for JQuery-UI plugin with same characteristics.Mine got fixed by taking latest version of Jquery-ui and bootbox.js(which is someway derived from bootstrap)- I am not sure whether it is your problem. –Aneesh Mohan Jul 23 '13 at 12:17 It might be the issue...but like I said...i have no clue where the problem lies...the only clue that I have now...is I get the error once the modal div (which uses bootstrap) is loaded...and i also get to see the same stack overflow error when I click anywhere on the page...So does that mean the issue might be related to a click event (once the modal div has loaded)? –testndtv Jul 23 '13 at 12:37 That was the behavio

I had covered most of the annoying and ill-explained JavaScript limits, but stack overflow javascript error this past week I ran across another that is worth discussing: stack overflow errors. I've written about how stack overflow error java too much recursion can lead to performance issues. Most browsers have limits on how much recursion is allowed before the script is automatically canceled. This is a limit that http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17806784/debug-stack-overflow-error-in-ie8 is separate from the one determining if the script is long-running. And the limit is really less about recursive calls so much as it is about the size of the JavaScript call stack. Not surprisingly, different browsers have different call stack sizes. Also not surprisingly, the method that they use to determine the call stack varies as well. The various https://www.nczonline.net/blog/2009/05/19/javascript-stack-overflow-error/ call stack sizes I could measure are (give or take, might be off by 1 or 2): Internet Explorer 7: 1,789 Firefox 3: 3,000 Chrome 1: 21,837 Opera 9.62: 10,000 Safari 3.2: 500 Some have said, but I cannot confirm, that IE and Opera's call stack size are somewhat tied to the amount of RAM on the system. All other browsers have this set by a default. It's also worth noting that WebKit seems to have a much higher limit and that Safari imposes a stricter limit on the JavaScript engine. There are two common scenarios in which this limit could be reached. The first is simple recursion, such as: function recurse(){ recurse(); } recurse(); The second is a more devious and harder-to-identify issue, especially in large code bases, where two functions each call the other, such as: function doSomething(){ doSomethingElse(); } function doSomethingElse(){ doSomething(); } doSomething(); In each case, the browser will end up stopping your code and (hopefully) display a message about the issue: Internet Explorer 7: "Stack overflow at line x" Firefox 3:"Too much r

IE also comes with an in built developer tool like Google chrome(not not that user friendly). But you can still use it to debug script and to watch call stack. use debugger; like we use in other debuggers. You can get better control in script debugging using visual studio. If you a .Net developer you can use VS itself to debug JavaScript. guidance Stack overflow (stack exhaustion) not the same as stack buffer overflow ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★ swiatJanuary 28, 20090 0 0 0 Periodically we get reports into the MSRC of stack exhaustion in client-side applications such as Internet Explorer, Word, etc. These are valid stability bugs that, fortunately, do not lead to an exploitable condition by itself (no potential for elevation of privilege). We wanted to clarify the distinction between stack exhaustion and stack buffer overflow. Stack buffer overflows often lead to elevation of privilege. Unfortunately, the literature tends to use stack overflow to refer to both cases, hence the confusion. The error code STATUS_STACK_BUFFER_OVERRUN (0xc0000409) refers to a stack buffer overflow while the error code STATUS_STACK_OVERFLOW (0xc00000fd) refers to stack exhaustion. On Bugtraq this morning, there was a public post of a stack exhaustion bug that, fortunately, does not lead to arbitrary code execution. Let's take a closer look at it and a few other examples. We'll start with today's Bugtraq posting:
