When I did that, i finally got an answer to my problem, which turned out to be a hardware failure of the device which was only able to be diagnosed by the device after i did steps 1 & 2. I hope this help you. Let me know.Regards, prawser Helpful (1) Reply options Link to this post This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only. I've set up afp on my 12.04 headless server, and it's working well, but I can't seem https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2183095 to get a Time Machine backup going. It finds the two backup volumes (one for my wife, and one for me), and it has me log in, but then I get the OSStatus error 2, saying "Time Machine can't access the backup disk..." I've already chowned the /media/raidmount/Casey's Time Machine/ folder, and set permissions from 755 to 775 to 777, and nothing is working. Has anyone else had this issue, and if so, how did you fix it? Messages: 8 Thanks Received: 0 Trophy Points: 1 Hi! I installed freenas 9.2 a while ago, and I am still trying to get the hang of it. I am experiencing several problems - not sure if they are connected... I would like to use timemachine to backup a macbook pro (OsX 10.9.1). So I followed the freenas guide and created a user "dejhost" and a homedirectory "tm_dejhost". I also create a group, but I am unable to change the group of my user from "nobody" to the new group :-( Trying to connect timemachine from the macbook to the afp-server, I received an error on the macbook: Time Machine can’t access the backup disk “tm_dejhost”. The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error 2.)Click to expand... Searching the web for help I figured that the best thing to do is to start over. This time I named the homedirectory "tmdejhost"... receiving the same error (only the name of the backup disk changed) and the following log file from the server: Code:Feb 23 19:18:57 Jonas afpd[11693]: AFP3.3 Login by dejhost Feb 23 19:18:57 Jonas afpd[11693]: readvolfile: user home "/mnt/Backup1tb/tmdejhost" doesn't match basedir regex "/mnt/Backup1tb/tm_dejhost" Feb 23 19:18:57 Jonas afpd[11693]: AFP logout by dejhost Feb 23 19:18:57 Jonas afpd[11693]: dsi_stream_read: len:0, unexpected EOF Feb 23 19:18:57 Jonas afpd[11693]: afp_over_dsi: client logged out, terminating DSI session Feb 23 19:18:57 Jonas afpd[11693]: AFP statistics: 0.60 KB read, 0.45 KB written Feb 23 19:19:49 Jonas notifier: Performing sanity check on Samba configuration: OK Feb 23 19:19:49 Jonas notifier: Stopping avahi-daemon.
