Here's my code: Sub BringUpWorkbook() Workbooks("RITE 1624.xls").Activate End Sub I have several VBA books, have visited dozens of sites on the Internet, including those here at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18193153/vba-run-time-error-9-subscript-out-of-range-trying-to-activate-another-workb stackoverflow.com, and cannot find a reason why I'm receiving the run-time error. The workbook is already open, I've tried adding everything trailing the title, I've tried removing the .xls, I've even did all of the above with in a variable. Any ideas? excel-vba excel-2010 share|improve this question edited Aug 12 '13 at 17:39 asked Aug 12 '13 at 17:34 Lou 9821022 1 Loop through the workbooks collection and debug.print their name property. –Tarik Aug 12 '13 at 17:41 Not sure how to do that. Looked up several debug.print examples and I don't understand how to do that with my current example shown above. –Lou Aug 12 '13 at 17:59 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Make sure the extension is correct. If it's a excel-2010 file like you indicate, you may need to update your code to reflect the extension of your "RITE 1624" file (e.g. .xlsx for a 2010 Excel workbook, .xlsm for a 2010 Excel macro-enabled workbook, or whatever the extension is. Sub BringUpWorkbook() Workbooks("RITE 1624.xlsx").Activate End Sub EDIT: To make sure you have the right name of the workbook, you can print the name of each wor

The timesheet will have information about the employee's id, department, first name and last name. In the timesheet it will also includes the first date until the fourteenth date of the bi-weekly payroll. The date will be created automatically when msgbox pop-up asking which week I want to work on (see below: "iInput code"). This code below involves 2 excel files. The first file (MasterfileAuditReport.xls)contains employees' name, id, department and their status (active, terminated, etc). The second file (Timesheet.xls) will be created from VBA code in the first file. But when I tried to run the following VBA script on the first file, I ran into the following error message "Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range" on this line (with '****' sign). I have been working on this VBA for few weeks but I couldn't find out how to fix this problem. I hope some of you can give me some suggestion and help. I really appriciate this, thank you in advance. Have a nice day. VB: Sub CreateTimesheet() 'Variable for Workbook Dim sDepartment As String Dim sID As String Dim sName As String 'Variables for MasterFile Dim iColumn As Int
large spreadsheet with a fair amount of code behide it. Historically it has run well and with no issues. However it has started giving me a "Run-time error '9': Subscript out of range" error. I have no idea what is causing it. It is stoping at the beginning of a new sub. The code says: Windows("All Same Store Rate Plan Production.xlsx").Activate 'failure is here sheetNo1 = ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets.Count I can promise, the spreadsheet it is referring to is open. It is named correctly. Can anyone offer some ideas as to why this error is coming up? In advance, thanks for your help. Now I can only guess it has perhaps something to do with the number of sheets in the worksheet? 0 Discussion Starter doncwilson_1 16 1 Year Ago ddanbe, There are only 4 sheets in the workbook. For what it's worth, I'm rerunning the data (which creates these spreadsheets that are to be "activated"). I'm now going on the assumption that they my have been formatted incorrectly or have some kind of corruption to them. I say this as I've rerun the first one (which produced the original error) and it went through the macro fine. However the second one crashed. Thus the reason for recreating the data and spreadsheets. If it is of interest, here's the code I've written: Sub ImportReport1() Windows("All Same Store Rate Plan Production.xlsx").Activate sheetNo1 = ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets.Count 'Sheet1 If sheetNo1 > 0 Then Windows("All Same Store Rate Plan Production.xlsx").Activate Sheets(1).Select name1 = Range("A12").Value name2 = Range("A13").Value If name1 = "Business Category" Then name2 = "" Windows("All Same Store Rate Plan Production.xlsx").Activate Sheets(1).Select Range("A1:K5").Select Selection.Copy Windows("YTD Rate Plan Production Master.xlsm").Activate Sheets("Data1").Select Range("B1").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Range("A15").Select Windows("All Same Store Rate Plan Production.xlsx").Activate Sheets(1).Select Range("A6:K11").Select Selection.Copy Windows("YTD Rate Plan Production Master.xlsm").Activate Sheets("Data1").Select Range("B7").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Range("A15").Select Windows("All Same Store Rate Plan Production.xlsx").Activate Sheets(1).Select Range("A12:K7000").Select Selection.Copy Windows("YTD Rate Plan Production Master.xlsm").Activate Sheets("Data1").Select Range("B13").Select ActiveSheet.Paste Range("A15").Select End If If name2 = "B
