A few weeks ago, I reported buying the following: “ELECTRIC LADYLAND” CD GERMAN eac sync error last track POLYDOR # 823 359-2 YH2 COVER and BOOKLET: Naked girls cover. CASE: Fatboy with foam. Bottom “Printed in eac peak level West Germany… Made in West Germany.” NON PLAY SIDE: Discs are GOLD (not bronzing... these were pressed gold). INNER RING: Disc 1: 823 360-2 01 #
Eac Burst Mode
Disc 2: 823 361-2 02 # It sounds fantastic! So, as I do with all my valuable discs, I decided to rip a back-up safety copy. The method I traditionally use is to extract the files as WAV's via EAC, then burn the
Eac Sync Error
safety discs via Nero (which is the only burning software I own). I have never had a problem with this method before, including one disc that had zillions of light marks and a couple of deep ones. However, my attempt to rip this disc has met with the following problems: (1) It's taken literally 12 hours to burn just the first four songs. (2) Three of the first four songs show reports of "Read Errors" and "Sync Errors", which is something I've never encountered before. The only possible eac secure mode explanation I can think of is that the Electric Ladyland discs are sort of transparent (if you look through the non-play side in a bright light, you can sort of see through the discs) which maybe makes it tougher for EAC to read. Was it bad to leave the disc in my computer for hours (due to the heat or any other reason) as EAC tried to extract the data? And if I haven't f&$ked-up my disc by leaving it in my computer for 12 hours, what's the best alternate way(s) to rip it in so that I can have a lossless backup? Thanks john lennonist, Mar 4, 2009 #1 onlyconnect Forum Resident Location: Nottingham, UK Discs are GOLD (not bronzing... these were pressed gold).Click to expand... Are we 100% sure about this not being bronzing? IME if EAC can't do it the only hope is to try EAC again but with a different drive, eg on a different PC. Tim onlyconnect, Mar 4, 2009 #2 apileocole Lush Life Gort Location: San Luis Obispo California You sure didn't do your drives (optical and hard) any favors by having them groan at it for 12 hours and who knows about the disc now. There's and option in EAC to have it stop after it's tried a certain number of multiples longer than the track is; I suggest one use it, and that say, 4x is quite enough. Never let them work at a disc for hours, if it's not ripping in a reasonable time try something else. If your

sync error 29 May, 2014, 11:10:05 AM Hello. I've tried looking for answers to this but eac gap detection method haven't come up with any solid answers. I've started ripping my CD collection with EAC and I'm about 12 CDs in and have already eac timing problem encountered 2 CDs where EAC gives read and sync errors on one or 2 tracks. Neither CD has visible damage, both play just fine in a CD player and as best as I can tell, the rips sound just http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/help-eac-reports-read-errors-sync-errors-as-i-try-to-rip-wg-electric-ladyland.176415/ fine at the suspicious positions. One of the 2 discs was in AccurateRip and the track with the error could not be verified, but the log file stated that CUETools could repair the rip (incidentally, is this recommended and, if so, how do you do it?); the other disc was not in AccurateRip. I've tried 3 different computers with 3 different drives and I've also tried XLD on Mac with one of the discs and I never got an https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,105909.0.html error-free rip. Since the CDs appear pristine and sound fine in a CD player I'm just wondering what could be causing the read and sync errors, and if there is anything else I could do to try to get an error-free rip or if I should just move on. Thanks in advance. mjb2006 Hero Member Joined: 12 May, 2006 Posts: 1,144 Logged EAC read error, sync error Reply #1 – 29 May, 2014, 02:58:31 PM Since it appears pristine but won't rip on any drive you've tried, the disc probably has a manufacturing defect that exceeds the capability of the disc's built-in error correction system. When the player or ripper encounters the trouble spots, it's fudging the audio data as best it can, and in this case it's close enough to be listenable. Some players and drives will be more tolerant of this disc than others. You can try experimenting with the ripper's settings; e.g., burst mode, and don't let the drive slow down... but in my experience, if several drives won't rip it, there's not much you can do.In CUETools, make sure the input mode is Folder Browser. http://cuetools.net/wiki/CUETools_Settings may be of some help here; you need to avoid "batch mode" which CUETools won't tell you is enabled. Navigate to the .cue file (I think a drag'n'drop of the file will also navigate there automatically), and choose Encode action with the "repair" script selected

This CD is Cactus Data Shield 200 protected. A forum search for "Cactus Data Shield" will give you helpful results. In short: Try Exact Audio eac sync error Copy (EAC) with "Detect TOC manually" and extract in "Secure Mode", C2 off at lowest possible extraction speed (will help to get rid of the silence). CDS200 messes with audio CD error protection by introducing C2 errors on purpose. Especially with the Kraftwerk CD which contains a lot of pure sounds without transients the results depend on the drive's error correction capabilites. With most drives (if they're able to circumvent the protection at all) you'll hear rhythmic clicks sometimes, if not - what drive? I want to buy it too . For click removal there are several possibilities, e.g. EAC's wave editor. tigre, Aug 27, 2003 #2 eetupoika Member Joined: Sep 8, 2002 Messages: 95 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 16 dang... eac performed even worse by not being able to properly extract the first track and the two last. got an error message complaining about sync problems. any idea what it means? also, i could not find the preference to choose "extract in secure more", could you advice. thanks! eetupoika, Aug 31, 2003 #3 tigre Moderator Staff Member Joined: Feb 18, 2003 Messages: 790 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 26 Synch error: It's *possible* that there's skipping. Some are labelled "copy protected" but most are not Using iTunes they rip OK to AAC (low-fi) and Apple Lossless (Qute wont play them). They will also rip with dBPoweramp, Media Monkey and Winamp but in all 3 cases the sound is VERY distorted akin to vinyl with the biggest ever bit off fluff on the stylus. Any suggestions on a way round this problem? Take Action Report Topic Permalink Printer Friendly Format Original Post Sloop John BMember 6/25/1111:54 PM Are they HDCC? I've noticed this problem with the first track of some HDCC encoded discs. dBPoweramp seems able to rip these ok so maybe download the trial version and see if this works.
