I searched the error code, but cant solve the problem. Error code descriptions tell same things. "Your email adress, domain invalid, character problem etc." There is Kerio Mail Server 6.7 on Windows Server 2003. I tried to send from different IP adresses, domains, web mail/outlook and disabled antivirus program on the server but problem can't solved. Mail server ip adresses aren't blocked by blacklists. What is the reason of this problem, and how can I solve it? error message: '501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments' iss5267; 5267; 501; syntax error; parameters; arguments; http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21436771 helo; domain check; LPMS Technote (FAQ) Question Why does mail from https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/unable-to-add-smtp-server-in-jira-due-to-error-501-syntax-error-in-parameters-or-arguments-320110637.html a certain remote mail server always reject with the error message: '501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments' and what can be done to receive messages from that particular server? Answer After upgrading to firmware 1.6 there is a new option Helo Domain Check at SMTP syntax error > Configuration > Receiving SMTP > Settings that is enabled per default. This new check may cause some remote servers to be rejected with the error message: 501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments The Helo Domain Check examines if: 1. A host name, domain name or IP address is specified with the helo command (helo myhost.domain.com syntax error in / helo domain.com / helo 10.10.10.10 --> 'helo myhost' is not sufficient) 2. The syntax for the domain/hostname is correct (e.g. it checks for special characters that are not allowed) If a sending server does not match the requirements for the HELO command, the MTA of Proventia Network Mail Security will answer the bad helo command with 501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments If you are experiencing problem with the Helo Domain Check, please disable it.
