How to fix outlook out of memory error? Published by Jacob Martin on June 12, 2015 Outlook, developed by Microsoft is an email application used for managing email system even without internet connection. At times, there may be instances when you will receive error system resources messages like “Out of memory or resources” or “disk is full-not enough resources available” while adding or saving personal folder files (PST files). Other error messages that are displayed include “Document could not be saved”, “Too many files are open”, “Access denied” etc. This error message may appear on your screen if you try downloading messages more than your computer can process or in case of insufficient memory to display the folder. Let us take a practical instance, where a out of memory user having fair amount of PST files connected in outlook wanted to add another and while doing the same he received error message like “Out of memory or system resources, try again after closing some windows or programs”. Even after closing all other applications and restarting the computer having enough free memory, the user still gets the error message. So, the question arises is how you will be able to open more PST files? Or how you will be able to fix outlook out of memory error? Whenever outlook connects to a PST file, in order to increase the system performance it receives and stores certain portion of memory. When you get an error message like “Out of memory/resources”, Outlook run out of this portion of memory (i.e. a certain amount of address space). Below shown are the two solutions for this issue: Decrease amount of opened PST files in outlook Decrease memory cache-size per PST file via registry 1. Decrease amount of opened PST files in outlook You will be facing this type of problem only if you have opened more than 15 PST files of considerable size (about 1 GB or more) or 50 files of around 300 MB connected in outlook. You can fix this issue by reducing the amount of opened PST files. You can also disconnect the PST files that you are not using currently to archive to a separate PST file. 2. Decrease
MemorySlipstick SystemsHome / Problems / Cannot Expand Outlook Folders: Not Enough Memory Last reviewed on February 23, 2015 —8 Comments Applies to: Outlook 2010, Outlook 2007 This error affects Exchange server users with a large number of folders in their profile, either in their mailbox, public folders, or SharePoint lists. In most cases, you won't have a problem until you exceed approximately 1,000 folders, or a gigabyte of space is used. Outlook works fine for a little bit (5-10 minutes) before users start getting this error: Task 'Microsoft Exchange' reported error (0x8007000E) : 'Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.' Cannot display the folder. There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again. Cannot expand the folder. There is not enough free memory to run this program. Quit one or more programs, and then try again. Cannot expand the folder. There is not enough memory available to perform the operation. When they close Outlook and reopen it, they can again work for a few minutes before the errors kick in. The error appears whenever clicking or expanding a folder (public folder or mailbox folder) except for the Inbox. When the error occurs, mail in the Outbox also doesn't get sent until Outlook is restarted. The Solution You have two options to avoid this problem: either disable the Download Public Folder Favorites option, or keep the number of cached public folders favorites under 1,000 (or low enough to avoid the error message.) . You can typically reduce the number of public folder favorites by deleting them by using the Outlook client. To disable the Download Public Folder Favorites option: In Outlook, click File, Account Settings, and then click Account Settings. Double click on your Exchange account or select it and then click Change. Click More Settings. On the Advanced tab, clear the Download Public Folder Favorites check box. Click OK and return to Outlook. You'll need to restart Outlook for these changes to take effect. In some cases in which you have too many public folder favorites, you may receive an error message when you attempt to delete the folders in Outlook. When this occurs, you'll need to use MFCMAPI to delete the folders. Run MFCMAPI. On the Session menu, click Logon. Select your Outlook profile name, and then click OK. In the top pane, locate the line that corresponds to your mailbox, and then double-click it. In the
