have been installing and testing several software products and my laptop is starting to get flaky. It has
An Unspecified Error Occurred During System Restore 0x80070005
slowed down and no longer goes into standby when closing the system restore failed windows 8 lid. In my experience, the easiest fix for this type of problem is to use Microsoft's an unspecified error occurred during system restore windows 10 System Restore. Simply pick a restore point from before the testing and let System Restore do it's magic. I started System Restore, picked a restore point http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/an-unspecified-error-occured-during-system-restore/422f9e55-fb13-4e34-8e13-5083bce8eca6 and sent it off to work – or so I thought. System Restore ran as it should, restarted the computer, but then displayed a dialog box explaining that System Restore did not finish what it set out to do. Amongst the rather not so helpful text in the dialog box, it said, “an unspecified error http://www.consideritfixed.com/2011/02/what-to-do-when-system-restore-fails.html occurred during System Restore (0x80071a90).” Humm…I guess this means that System Restore did not work. The message goes on the further suggest that I try other restore points - which I did. Lamentably, trying other restore points proved futile. I was soon to discovered that broken restore points were not the issue. System Restore can fail because some software on your computer doesn't understand or respect System Restore. Common culprits are virus and malware protection products and other programs that are typically loaded to provide some type of background service. If there is any good news here it is that getting around these problems with System Restore is rather easy. Following, I offer 2 approaches that may help. Neither of these will destroy data that is on your computer. However, it goes without saying that you should always make a backup of your important data before you work on your computer. Run System Restore in Safe Mode Start Windows in safe mode. To
Startup Repair Loop - Infection Discussion in 'Malware Removal' started by Goregrinder, Jan 14, 2013. Goregrinder Private E-2 Hello all ! I'm new here, and english is not my native language. So I have a BIG problem with a Windows 7 http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/startup-repair-loop-infection.272078/ 64Bits computer. I have been infected by a malware (I don't know what kind). The classic https://neosmart.net/forums/threads/windows-wont-boot.9210/ "you are watching porn blablabla you have to pay us 100$". So, as usual, I made a reboot and tried to get into the safe mode to run Malwarebytes. But this time, I couldn't enter the safe mode, and saw the "Startup Repair" window. (this operation of course, was unsuccesful). I still can't get access to the safe mode, or load a restoration point. I saw system restore a thread here concerning the same kind of problem. There was instructions about Farbar tool. I followed strictly all instructions, and now, I bring you my FRST log :-D. Can you help me please ? I have all my work on this computer... In addition to having a little remaining items from the Moneypak during system restore infection, you also have some missing system files that FRST pointed out where it said ==================== Known DLLs (Whitelisted) ================= C:\Windows\System32\kernel32.dll IS MISSING <==== ATTENTION! Thes need to be replaced. The below will scan with FRST to see if you have any backups that can be used. Boot to System Recovery Options and run FRST again. Type the below bolded text in the edit box after "Search:". kernel32.dll USP10.dll Then click the Search button. It will make a log (Search.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach this log to your next reply. (See How to attach) chaslang, Jan 14, 2013 #2 Goregrinder Private E-2 Thank you a lot for your answer ! Points: 0 Hello I am here today because my laptop, a Sony Vaio Model VPCEE31FX, a little over a year old will not boot. It is running a vision AMD processor and ATI graphics on Windows 7. When I turn it on I get a windows error recovery screen saying windows failed to start. Startup repair says there is one root cause but it can not determine the reason. I have tried to restore to an earlier version but it will not as it says an unspecified error occured during system restore. (0x80071a91). I booted with command prompt and it loads up until \windows\system32\drivers\atipcie.sys and then it stops. Please help. Any possibilities would be greatly appreciated.
