You will find this option at the bottom of window. Now click on "Continue", if it ask you for the same. Now try to look for "rstrui.exe" in the column. After finding the same, right click on it and click on "End Process" option. A confirmation dialog can appear where you will have to add your confirmation. After that this error message will not appear before you. ~Support Community Manager Reply With Quote 20-01-201309:37 PM #3 ghanathey swetha Array Join Date Nov 2012 Posts 509 Re: How to get rid of "System restore wizard is already running.." error Hi. Follow the below steps: The next time this happens, take a look in the Task Manager to see if the rstrui.exe process is running. To do this, follow these steps. >>Right click the Taskbar and select Task Manager from the menu. >>In the Task Manager, select the Processes Tab. >>At the bottom of the window, click the Show Processes from all users button. >>Click Continue on the UAC prompt. >>In the Image Name column, look for the rstrui.exe process. >>If found, right click that process and select the End Process item. >>Click End Process on the confirmation dialog. Thank you. Reply With Quote 24-01-201312:42 PM #4 ak47 Array Join Date Jan 2013 Posts 493 Re:

I ran into some problems uninstalling incompatible programs, and from run system restore windows 2000 the Microsoft Web Site followed directions to correct it. Whatever I did was bad, so I went to go to a system restore. However, it won't pull up. When I launch it the first time http://windowsdiscussions.com/how-get-rid-system-restore-wizard-already-running-error-73456.html it looks like it will start up, but nothing is on the screen. When I try to launch it again, I get a pop up window that says "The System Restore Wizard is already running. This program will now exit." I've gone to the task manager to clear it out, but even if it's there (it isn't always) the same error window comes up. The only thing that will restart the process https://forums.techguy.org/threads/system-restore-wizard-is-already-running.660649/ is rebooting, but the same thing happens over and ever - even in Safe Mode. I've already tried going to "Last Known Good Configuration" in Safe Mode. No luck. So, now not only does my unistaller not work after using the MS "fix", but I can't go back to when it mostly did. Thanks for any insights. It could be easier to try fixing the original problem first and then sort out SR. Please give more details about the programs you tried to un-install and what went wrong, any error messages etc. Can you provide a link to the Microsoft site you used ? managed, Dec 9, 2007 #2 BeckyR-P Thread Starter Joined: Dec 9, 2007 Messages: 2 Hi. No, there is no system restore screen at all, just the error box which says "the system restore wizard is already running." The problem began when my McAfee anti-virus wasn't working correctly. McAfee support said it was because I have Ad-Aware and Spybot installed (which had run with McAfee for years on my XP compu

Hello. I am a retired 70 year-old newcomer to computers trying to cope with a Windows Installer problem http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/System-restore-wizard-is-already-running/td-p/4123692 seen with my new Vista machine. I bought it to put together stacks of genealogical information that I have: old Bible records, family “stories”, pictures of relatives, and scans of hard-to-find legal records (mining and system restore property claim deeds, marriage licenses, census reports, birth and death records, etc.), all with the intent of making a DVD for distribution to my scattered grandkids this Christmas so they would have everything that I have but in one easy-to-use place. Now, after putting a mountain of this “priceless” stuff on the computer, working for about six months to do it, something has happened and I can no longer install run system restore any new program updates on the machine. When I try to install something (like Adobe Reader 8.1.2, for example, but it happens with ANY and ALL program updates) I get messages like “Installer is no longer responding”. This defect will really get serious later this month when I must install new security updates. If I can't do that, then the computer becomes just a piece of sophisticated JUNK. Meanwhile, the machine itself, running without regular updates, is getting increasingly frail; more and more advisory messages are appearing. When I start it up now, my heart is in my mouth and all the genealogical work seems to be in danger. I had no idea how surprisingly fragile the computer world we live in is really becoming. I have been working with the MS Vista Art Unit for the last three weeks trying to solve this problem – so far without success, although they HAVE sent me several trial solutions (none of which worked). The only clues that I have is that I sometimes get “Error 1500”, and when, following some advice from an Intel engineer, I navigated to fix the Installer\InProgress key in “regedit”, the key was just not there. Can anyone out there help solve this ve
