I've built my current PC, a year or so ago, but I'm by no system restore not working windows 7 means an expert on these things. When booting up my PC, it gets to the Windows graphics then screen goes black, it says that it needs to perform a disk check, then says that it http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/system-restore-wont-work-because-of-disk-errors/ebdde34c-d207-4bb8-9543-7fa426eb4b5b can't perform a disk check as it's corrupted. Windows then starts (is it in safe mode, I'm not sure) and I've got what seems like full functionality, but the resolution on the screen is changed. I get a few messages saying that some files are corrupt or unreachable, and that I should perform a disk check. I've tried a system restore, but it says that because the C drive is http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1675187/drive-corrupted-disk-check-work-system-restore-work.html corrupted or unreachable that I need to run disk check. Try that, but as it's running it says I need to schedule one for after a restart. But then this obviously doesn't work as noted above. My C drive is an SSD that's about a year old, if that makes any difference. Is there anything I can do or do I just need to reformat the drive and reinstall Windows? Any help gratefully received. You may need a virus pgm boot disk depending on the virus pgm you have. Another thing you can try is boot to the Windows installation disk and have it try to do a repair of Windows. As a last resort, yes, you may have to do a clean install of Windows. Be sure you follow the accepted norms for installing Windows to a SSD: http://www.computing.net/howtos/show/solid-state-drive-... Windows has detected file system corruption on Local Disk (C. You must check the disk for errors before it can be restored." It then gives me a link that says "Check the disk for errors". When I click on this, it says "Windows can't check the disk while in use" and gives me an option to "Schedule disk check". However, when I schedule the disk check for the next restart, and then restart my computer, the disk check freezes after checking 2% of the files. I'm also unable to cancel the disk check (the starting page says it can be canceled by pressing any key... this doesn't work!). I must have restarted my computer about 10 times, the disk check failing to cancel AND freezing every single time, before I figured out how to restart with the last successful configuration. I currently can use Windows without any errors - there are just some recent minor bugs that I find incredibly annoying, which is why I was attempting to use System Restore. Is there any way I can get System Restore and/or the Disk Check to work?
