Solved Word 2003: ActiveX component can't create object Posted on 2007-07-18 MS Development-Other MS Office Web Components 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 987 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-25 I have a Java app that uses a DLL the file to export information from a database to Microsoft Word documents. It works fine everywhere except on 2 machines in the same office, where the export fails with the message ActiveX component can't create object The app can also generate PowerPoint documents, but I'm having a similar problem there, and the export fails with the message Can't co-create object Both machines that are having the problem are running Office 2003 SP2 on Windows error opening the 2000 SP4. However, I'm using the same Office version on Windows XP and don't get the error. Other machines in the office that's having the problem use Office 2000 or Office XP, and they don't get the problem. I therefore believe that the problem is not with the code or the DLL, but with the Office install. So far I have tried * setting Word and PPT to run as the interactive user * using dcomcnfg to make sure Everyone, Admins, System etc all have access to Word and PPT * checking the registry values for Word and PPT to make sure they point to the correct install locations (they do) * repairing the Office install In fact, I've pretty much followed all the steps listed in this article ->http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828550 However, the error persists. Does anyone have some tips for getting round it? 0 Question by:billmil Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 1 Best Solution byComputer101 PAQed with points refunded (500) Computer101 EE Admin Go to Solution 6 Comments LVL 30 Overall: Level 30 MS Office 3 MS Development-Other 1 Message Expert Comment by:IanTh2007-07-18 have you tried uninstalling office and then reboot and reinstall after its rebooted 0 Message Author Comment by:billmil2007-07-18 I had hoped to avoid this, but will try later today.
