The Remote Server Returned An Error (409) Conflict. C#

Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up Reasons for a 409/Conflict HTTP error when uploading a file to sharepoint using a .NET WebRequest? up vote 12 down vote the remote server returned an error (409) conflict. sharepoint 2013 favorite 3 I've got a method that uses a WebRequest to upload a file to a sharepoint 2010 list/folder, using a PUT request, with the Overwrite Header set to T (overwrite). When several files are uploaded (method is called several times), some requests fail with a 409 Conflict HTTP error. I've googled, and it seems the most common reason is trying to affect/update a file that does not exist (like setting the request URL error 409 android to a path without a file name). However, that is not the case. In case the conflict had something to do with the file already existing, I added code to physically delete the file before uploading it, and i'm still getting some 409's. Has anyone received this type of error, and if so, can you tell me how you fixed it and what was the root cause? Any help is greatly appreciated. For example, you may get a 409 error if you try to upload a file to the Web server which is older than the one already there - resulting in a version control conflict. Someone on a similar question right here on stackoverflow, said the answer was: I've had this issue when I was referencing the url of the document library and not the destination file itself. i.e. try http://server name/docu

I can open the page and view the contents after entering the username and password via a browser all ok. it will not allow me to write any files other than create a folder and throws error 409 0 00! I suspect it maybe a .net issue due only to the fact if i compare it to the iis6 webdav folder https://forums.iis.net/t/prev/1193607 i have on a 2003 serevr (which works fine) in the iis6 manager tool it shows the asp page all blank! although this may just be an iis6 manager issue though! any help greatfully received CTB Reply lextm 6596 Posts MVP Re: Webdav error 409 Dec 10, 2012 09:37 PM|lextm|LINK According to RFC 2616, http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2616/rfc2616-sec10.html you can only know the cause by reading the actual response (409) message from IIS. The message body should tell you why. Lex Li http://lextudio.com --------------------------- This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
