It is installed on 5 PCs in the same company. All of a sudden, when the users open a particular form, they get one error message or another, but both error messages end with the text "There was an error loading an ActiveX control on one of your forms or reports". On one of the PCs, a Compact and Repair seemed to help, but not on any of the others. I'm thinking an OS patch may have messed something up, or a software install that I'm unaware of. The form in question uses 2 ActiveX controls, a ListView and a DatePicker control. Each of these require their own OCX to be loaded and registered. Does anybody have any experience with a similar issue? Any ideas on how to proceed? Presumably, if I identified and reinstalled the pertinent control set (which should re-register its OCX), that may help. Any ideas? Thanks a LOT for any help.Ron Mittelman Thursday, August 16, 2012 7:36 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi Ron, There have been some issues reported after security update MS12-060 was installed and it looks like KB articles 2748410 and

When the form is opened and the datepicker control (MSCOMCT2.OCX) is clicked, I get the following unhelpful error: The https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/404c00b5-5fd8-4153-bb84-66b8d389cdd2/problem-with-activex-control-on-form-access-2007?forum=accessdev expression Change you entered as the even property setting produced the following error: There was an error loading an ActiveX control on one of your forms or reports. *The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure.] *There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro. I can dismiss this message, but then get the same thing complaining about MouseMove I haven't specified these events in the vba, so I'm http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6682322/access-database-form-activex-control-error at a loss for what could be causing this. The problem Does not happen when I run it on my winXP w/ Access 2007 PC or my winXP w/ Access 2003 PC, but does happen on all other tested winXP w/ Access 2003's. Registering MSCOMCT2.OCX has no effect. What could be causing this and how can I correct it? ms-access vba activex access-vba share|improve this question asked Jul 13 '11 at 16:32 MAW74656 1,562144794 Try setting a breakpoint so that you can step through the code. That way you will see the line that causes the error. –Jacob Jul 13 '11 at 16:35 @cularis - I'd like to, but I don't even have those events declared in my vba. WHere would I set the breakpoint? –MAW74656 Jul 13 '11 at 16:36 Don't know your code, maybe you can paste it here or to pastebin or someting. I would try setting it somewhere where the control is being called in the code. –Jacob Jul 13 '11 at 16:38 Another thing I just thought of: you may have not have the routine in code, but maybe you have set them on the properties window for the control? –Jacob Jul 13 '11 at 16:39 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 4 down vote accepted My impression is most experienced Access developers avoid ActiveX controls whenever possible. For a date picker, you definitely don't need ActiveX. See Popup Calendar by Allen Bro

The database has been running problem there was free for 18 months, I was recently asked to alter the base task generation and reporting. Unfortunatley my hard copy, held as a complete MDB before splitting had been removed from our server. I was forced to rebuild a full working MDB version from the MDB BE & MDE FE. This is done but I have hit an error I can neither fathom or get past. If I create or try there was an to amend an exsisting form that has any object or function that calls for a VBA reference I get the following error. Quote: The expression MouseMove you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: There was an error loading an ActiveX control on one of your forms or reports The expression will cycle through all event properties for each object When this occurs I have passed through all objects to ensure that there are no Event properties holding commands, this will also happen if there are no Active X Controls on the form in question. The error generally happens in conjunction with the MSComCtl2.DTPicker object, i have unregistered and re-registered this through regserver in cmd but to no avail. Any help would be massivley appreciated sphynx View Public Profile Find More Posts by sphynx 03-16-2011, 01:51 AM #2 JamesMcS Keyboard-Chair Interface Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Northamptonshire, UK Posts: 1,819 Thanks: 14 Thanked 47 Times in 46 Posts Re: Error Loading Active X Control Could it be something to do with references in VBA in the new project? __________________ Cheers James If someone's helped you out, don't forget to click on the scales icon in one of their posts and add t
