Re: Premiere CS6 cann't import MPEG2 files Harm Millaard Jun 9, 2012 6:11 AM (in response to Jeff Bellune) Do you know Hauppage TV recorders use MPEG2 in a non-compatible format, that there are a few sports cameras that use MPEG2 in a non-compatible variant? Obviously not, otherwise you would not have marked my post irrelevant. It only shows your lack of understanding of where MPEG2 come from. You disappoint me Jeff. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 4. I have re-installed the OS, installed premier cs6 again. But this time it is reporting error in importing same video files. Video files are in mpg format and they are well running directly. ERROR http://superuser.com/questions/655150/adobe-premier-cs6-file-import-failure : "There was an error decompressing audio or video." EDIT: Somewhere I found that SysWOW64/quartz.dll is required to tell OS about mpg files. This file is installed via directx. I am surprised that directx was already installed but the file was missing. And when I installed same OS on my different machine quartz.dll was there. Well!! I copied the dll to my this machine and registered it. Still the problem persist. I also have installed K-lite codec pack and Media info. But :( As an alternative solution, I linked mp4 files in my premier project. But they don't run smooth in adobe which makes video editing impossible. Please help me to run mpg files in adobe premier. adobe-premiere share|improve this question edited Oct 13 '13 at 2:43 asked Oct 6 '13 at 16:38 Amit Gupta 202721 It can be codec problem. So as a Creative Cloud member, I just imported in to Premiere Pro CC and went to export so I could get an MP4 to a client. This would take way too long (14 hours). Now, I own a Matrox MXO2 LE w/ MAX but dummy me didn't check for there was an support for CC before uninstalling CS6. Long story short, I have CS6 on another system, but it will not read the MPG file. It says "There was an error decompressing audio or video." Premiere Pro CC opened and worked with it just fine. So what's different? It's just a standard MPG file, right? VLC Media Player can play it. QuickTime can't. It's not just this file too. I have several and all are behaving the same way. These were recording with a TriCaster 850 Extreme.
