There Was An Error Processing The Request C#
have this strange error: a webmethod gets some data from its businesslayer. When there is no data to get, the result is simply null. We check for this null and the user get some info. This works fine on the development machine, but NOT on the testserver..... On the test server I keep getting this exeception: "There was an error processing the there was an error processing the request webmethod request.", but i can't find out what's wrong. I cannot debug on the testserver.... Any ideas? Greetings, Roland Reply Luis Abreu Contributor 2850 Points 5363 Posts MVP Re: Starnge error: There was an error processing the request. Jan 15, 2007 10:41 AM|Luis Abreu|LINK hello. have you used fiddler to see what's wrong with the data you're receiving from the server? it might help you get more info about the error... -- Regards, Luis Abreu email: labreu_at_gmail.com EN blog:http://luisabreu.wordpress.com Reply Barnaby None 0 Points 20 Posts Re: Starnge error: There was an error processing the request. Jan 25, 2007 05:57 AM|Barnaby|LINK Did you find a solution to this? I am having a similar problem whereby exceptions seem to be lost when running in web.config debug=false mode. No matter what exception is thrown from a web-service call, in the client-side call failed method all I get is a message "There was an error processing the request." and the exception type is empty. I have been researching, but everything I have found was either related to Ajax or jQuery. PLEASE NOTE that the error we saw here is NOT http://stackoverflow.com/questions/32996453/there-was-an-error-processing-the-request-in-w3wp-process-net related to any Ajax or jQuery related operations. It is related to the .Net w3wp worker process. PROBLEM: Our customers reported that they are not able to Access the application and were getting this error. Before the issue got redirected to us (developers), the level 1 support team recycled the Application Pools in IIS and the App was up & running. On going through our error logs, we saw this error thrown multiple times during that interval: "Message: There was an error processing the request." Here is the exception log: Timestamp: 06/10/2015 04:42:02 Message: There was an error processing the request. In my local, the code seems to be working fine. This line Utility.WriteLogEvent("TestService", strMessage); is writing directly to db. Either way if this line fails or not, I should still be able to recieve a message coming from the server since it is properly handled. But since I don't receive any response from the server, that means my webmethod is not there was an reachable. Given that the code below works, is there anything that I need to set in the web.config to make this work? Or anywhere I can start inspecting on the IIS that could give me some clues? Thanks. $('#lnkTest').click(function () { alert('Click event is firing!'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "/_layouts/ServiceForm.aspx/TestService", data: "{}", dataType: "json", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", success: function (response) { if (response.d && response.d.length > 0) { alert(response.d); } }, error: function (xhr, err) { alert('responseText:' + xhr.responseText); } }); }); Here is my c# web method [WebMethod] public static string TestService() { string strMessage = string.Empty; try { strMessage = "The service is running."; Utility.WriteLogEvent("TestService", strMessage); } catch (Exception ex) { strMessage = "TestService fail."; } return strMessage; } c# jquery ajax share|improve this question edited Aug 1 '14 at 5:53 asked Jul 25 '14 at 4:25 Carls Jr. 2,44752750 Make Respective change in your url scheme? it might become problematic. Check in your exception on which particular location it is trying to access and it is not getting the webmethod location ? second problem might be that check calling of method in browser(use Firebug) and you will get better idea which exact location it is trying to access. –Ashok Rathod Jul 25 '14 at 4:54 Url is fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! Aldo Attachments: ...516.jpg (33KB) The administrator has disabled public write access.
