It looked like it decrypted successfully, ran the setup, installed runtimes and DirectX, but then this error. Every time I try to open the game it first re-installs runtimes and DX, then gives an error box with "Disc error while reading file BIGFILE.000". I've verified the came cache twice, everything says it's fine. The hard drive itself is in perfect working condition, it's brand new as of a few months ago. What gives? menjah View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by menjah Find Threads by menjah 08-23-2011, 01:00 AM #2 azmothman Join Date: Jan 2008 Reputation: 75 Posts: 555 Is this the retail (disc) version? Try copying all of the files from the disc to a temp folder and then run the install. You indicated you verified the cache, how about deleting the blob? azmothman View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by azmothman Find Threads by azmothman 08-23-2011, 01:43 AM #3 menjah Join Date: Apr 2010 Reputation: 0 Posts: 20 Steam download version. It'll redownload anything that's broken. joeyman9 View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by joeyman9 Find Threads by joeyman9 08-23-2011, 02:13 AM #5 wakkawakkawakka Join Date: Jan 2011 Reputation: 5 Posts: 35 From my experience, disk errors mean it's time to send the HD back. wakkawakkawakka View Public Profile Search User Find More Posts by wakkawakkawakka Find Threads by wakkawakkawakka 08-23-2011, 02:17 AM #6 menjah Join Date: Apr 2010 Reputation: 0 Posts: 20 here's a screenshot of the error http://i.imgur.com/o9kby.jpg @Joeyman: I've done that like 4 times, when that didn't work I deleted some files purposely so it would re-download them when it verified. Redownloaded fine but still, same error. @wakka: Perhaps that is true
