Can you help? - Anonymous I brother unable to clean 50 have cleaned the ink absorber for a brother dcp 117c, but am not having much success getting the purge reset code from brother. Can you help? - Anonymous Hi, have had this come up on my DCP-340CW, Hoping you http://fix-your-printer.blogspot.com/2011/03/unable-to-clean-46-error-message-on.html can help me out with info of how to get around this. Just to let you know, mine is not a fax unit, so i have no number buttons. Many Thanks, Derek. - Anonymous 1 i cleaned the pad (pain in the butt), and did the "purge" reset.Did not fix it.SO...i got ballsy...I went thru almost all the settings in the maintenance menu (80) and hit 2783 on them to clear them out. I did not do ones http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/40500 that i thought might hurt it. But in reality, if i did 2783 to one and it didnt like it, when i went back it would default it to factory so i dont think you can mess it up.But now it works, so i think everyone else who did the purge and it didnt fix it, do what i did...This was on a mfc5440 by unknown on Mar 4, 2009 at 1:34pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 1 Hi folks, just found this site and hope someone can help. I have a Brother DCP350C which is displaying 'unable to clean 46'.I have a new ink absorber pad as sugested by Brother but have no idea where it goes (I thought it might have come with instructions, but didn't). Do I also have to reset the purge counter as in other models? If so is there a specific code for this model? I am a newbie to home repairs but would be grateful for someones help. by unknown on Feb 6, 2010 at 6:34am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Brother did not have the waste ink reset error as far as I know. I think this is a communications I/O error as that is what it is on other brother machines. As you did not give a model number I will have to assume you have a model wit

Sadly this is not a particularly accurate method of measuring how full an ink absorber is and the majority of the time your printer could prints hundreds of pages before there was any danger of any ink escaping. However getting the waste ink tank changed and resetting the counter can be an expensive procedure if you get a service center to do it on your behalf. This ensures you get the most out of your printer and can avoid replacing it until it becomes necessary to do so. I do however recommend you protect any surfaces around the printer should you decide to reset the purge counter to save any surfaces becoming st
